At Okta, we celebrate a variety of perspectives and experiences. We are not looking for someone who checks every single box - we're looking for lifelong learners and people who can make us better with their unique experiences.

Join our team! We're building a world where Identity belongs to you.

Auth0 technology is an easy to implement authentication and authorization platform designed by developers for developers. We make access to applications safe, secure, and seamless for the more than 100 million daily logins around the world. Our modern approach to identity enables this Tier 0 global service to deliver convenience, privacy, and security so customers can focus on innovation.

The Product

We're transforming how developers experience Auth0 through world-class technical documentation. As we embrace a modern docs-as-code philosophy, we're looking for a technical content expert who can bridge the gap between complex authentication concepts and developer needs. Our documentation isn't just a support resource-it's a critical product that enables developers to integrate Auth0 seamlessly into their applications.

In this role, you'll influence how millions of developers understand and implement identity solutions, shaping our documentation strategy, code examples, API references, and developer guides. You'll drive our transformation from a centralized content model to a distributed approach where engineers contribute directly to documentation.

The Team

You'll join a passionate team of technical writers, engineers, and product managers dedicated to creating the best developer documentation experience in the identity space. We're a distributed team that values collaboration, technical excellence, and developer empathy.

You'll work closely with:

  • Engineering teams to ensure technical accuracy and capture new features
  • Product managers to align documentation with product strategy
  • Developer relations to understand community needs
  • Our existing technical writing team during the transition to our new content model

You will:

  • Lead technical content strategy for Auth0's documentation, ensuring content quality, consistency, and developer satisfaction
  • Act as customer zero for all documentation, ensuring content meets developer needs and enhances their understanding of Auth0's products
  • Create and maintain high-quality technical content including API references, integration guides, quickstarts, and conceptual documentation
  • Review and refine code examples across multiple programming languages, ensuring they follow best practices and work correctly
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and marketing teams to ensure documentation aligns with product releases and company goals
  • Define documentation standards and processes for a docs-as-code workflow using Git, Markdown, and modern documentation tools
  • Mentor and guide engineers in writing effective documentation, providing templates, guidelines, and direct feedback
  • Analyze documentation metrics to understand usage patterns and continuously improve content based on developer feedback
  • Champion developer experience by identifying and addressing documentation gaps, improving information architecture, and enhancing discoverability

You might be a good fit for this role if you:

  • Have 8+ years of experience in technical writing, developer documentation, or content engineering, preferably with identity, security, or API-focused products
  • Bring hands-on engineering experience with the ability to read, write, and debug code in multiple languages (JavaScript, Python, Java, C#, etc.)
  • Have deep experience with docs-as-code workflows, including Git, Markdown, static site generators, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Excel at translating complex technical concepts into clear, concise documentation for audiences ranging from junior developers to CTOs
  • Have experience building and scaling documentation programs, including establishing processes, style guides, and contribution models
  • Demonstrate exceptional writing and editing skills with meticulous attention to detail, consistency, and user experience
  • Thrive in fast-paced, agile environments with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Are passionate about developer experience and understand the importance of documentation in the developer journey
  • Have experience with modern documentation platforms (Mintlify, Docusaurus, ReadMe, etc.) and API documentation standards (OpenAPI/Swagger)
  • Bring familiarity with authentication and identity concepts (OAuth, OIDC, SAML, JWT) or the ability to quickly master complex technical domains
  • Embrace data-driven decision making using analytics to measure documentation effectiveness and guide improvements
  • Have experience mentoring and enabling others to write better technical content

Nice to have:

  • Experience migrating large documentation sets between platforms
  • Familiarity with Auth0 or similar identity platforms
  • Background in developer relations or developer advocacy
  • Experience with documentation localization and translation workflows
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards for technical documentation
  • Active participation in developer communities or open source projects
