Thomson Reuters is seeking an experienced Vice President, Chief Privacy Officer to lead our organization's comprehensive privacy strategy and program. This role will oversee the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of our privacy framework to ensure compliance with global regulations while enabling business growth and innovation. Reporting to the Chief Risk & Compliance Officer, the Chief Privacy Officer will evolve our privacy program into a world-class operation that protects personal information, mitigates privacy risk, and maintains stakeholder trust. This role requires a strategic leader who can navigate complex regulatory landscapes while partnering effectively across all levels of the organization. About the Role As Vice President, Chief Privacy Officer, you will be responsible for: Strategic Leadership
Develop and execute the organization's privacy vision, strategy, and roadmap Lead and mentor a team of privacy professionals and attorneys Partner with executive leadership to integrate privacy considerations into business strategy Serve as the organization's primary privacy spokesperson to regulators, customers, and stakeholders
Program Management & Compliance
Oversee global privacy compliance across all jurisdictions where the company operates Conduct comprehensive privacy risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies Monitor evolving privacy laws and regulations, assessing and adjusting policies and processes to address organizational impact Establish privacy governance frameworks and accountability structures
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Information Security, General Counsel's Office, Data & Analytics, business segments, and other internal functions Provide privacy guidance for new products, services, and business initiatives Lead and/or serve as subject matter expert with privacy due diligence and integration activities as part of mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures Develop and manage procedures for vetting and auditing vendors and third parties on privacy compliance requirements
Incident Response & Rights Management
Direct privacy incident investigations and breach response in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders Enhance and oversee consumer/data subject rights (DSR) request processes, including consent processes and honoring of DSR requests in accordance with legal requirements Manage relationships with regulatory authorities during investigations or inquiries
Innovation & Emerging Technologies
Stay current with technological advances that impact privacy practices, including assessing privacy implications of AI, machine learning, and other emerging technologies Develop privacy-by-design principles for technology implementations
About You Education & Credentials
Bachelor's degree in Business, Technology, or related field Juris Doctor from accredited law school preferred and an active bar admission in at least one U.S. state (if attorney
Experience
10-15 years of progressive privacy and data protection experience International privacy experience Proven track record of implementing enterprise-wide privacy programs Experience in fast-paced, technology-driven organizations Demonstrated success managing privacy programs globally Experience with incident response and regulatory interactions

Strong people leadership experience with ability to build and develop teams Exceptional communication and presentation skills for diverse audiences Strategic thinking with ability to translate vision and legal requirements into operational execution Deep understanding of global privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA, etc.) Knowledge of information security principles and data processing operations Experience with privacy management tools (OneTrust, GRC platforms) Ethical, with the ability to handle confidential information, remain impartial and report noncompliance Strong sense of urgency and results-orientation Proven ability to lead, motivate, influence and guide cross functional teams and direct reports Strong interpersonal skills, and fosters a culture of belonging that enables everyone to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives Demonstrates a commitment to the company's vision, mission and values

Professional privacy certification (CIPP, CIPM, CIPT, or equivalent) Experience advising content-driven AI companies Experience in managing privacy requirements as a service provider to various regulated entities, such as healthcare entities (e.g., HIPAA-regulated entities), banking (e.g., GLBA-regulated entities), etc. Background in management consulting or law firm advisory services Technical background in data architecture or cybersecurity

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations.
Eligible office location(s) for this role include one or more of the following: New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and/or Irvine, CA; McLean, VA; Washington, DC. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $213,710 - $396,890.
For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $185,500 - $344,500.
This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
