MTSI is seeking an experienced Senior Missions Systems Engineer to support mission-critical initiatives with our AFRL customer at Wright-Patterson AFB. You will lead efforts to design, develop, interpret, and oversee the implementation and operation of cutting-edge mission systems supporting national defense priorities. The role involves working in a complex multi-level security environment and leveraging your expertise to deliver advanced solutions for multi-tenant, multi-domain systems.
As a Senior Missions Systems Engineer, your technical knowledge of mission systems, coupled with your ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines, will be crucial to success. Advanced understanding of system engineering processes, mission analysis, and integration of hardware/software into complex architectures is required. Additionally, expertise in enabling interconnected operational domains using secure processes and systems is critical.
Responsibilities
Duties to be independently executed include but are not limited to:
- Mission Systems Design and Development:
- Designing, developing, and updating advanced mission systems for multi-domain environments.
- Mission Architecture and Integration:
- Leading efforts to design and integrate interconnected mission systems that meet operational demands while supporting multi-level security requirements.
- System Performance and Scalability:
- Conducting mission systems capacity planning, resilience analysis, and scalability assessment.
- Process Engineering Assurance:
- Developing processes for system updates, compliance, threat mitigation, and documentation, followed by training others to ensure effective system utilization.
- Mission Analysis and Implementation:
- Performing mission analysis to ensure the integration of hardware/software solutions aligns with AFRL priorities and anticipated mission outcomes.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Coordinating and aligning efforts across cross-functional teams to deliver cohesive mission systems solutions.
- Security Evaluation and Compliance:
- Supporting audits of mission systems while implementing corrective actions to mitigate security vulnerabilities and satisfy compliance.
- Lifecycle Documentation:
- Creating comprehensive mission system documentation, including configuration management, user guides, and training materials.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of systems engineering experience, including substantial involvement in the design, development, and administration of mission-critical systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. Equivalent experience may substitute for degree requirements.
- Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Proficiency in advanced mission systems architectures, including multi-domain interoperability.
- Expertise in systems integration, including hardware/software solutions.
- Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP-based communications, network routing, secure systems configuration, and operational analysis.
- DoD IAT Level III certifications highly preferred (CISSP, CASP+).
- Mission Systems Tools & Platforms:
- Experience working with mission analysis tools, secure multi-domain system platforms, and tools for network security and monitoring.
Desired Qualifications
- TS/SCI clearance preferred.
- Experience with advanced analytics platforms such as Elastic or Splunk.
- Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools for mission system analysis.
- Certifications in mission system engineering or cybersecurity disciplines are a plus (e.g., INCOSE CSEP, ITIL v4).
- Specialized training in supporting interconnected, multi-domain secure environments.
