PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Senior Director, Construction plays a critical leadership role in this journey by setting the direction and strategic approach for construction operations across major locations and large-scale projects. This role leads the construction function in alignment with Worley's global commitment to safety, sustainability, and innovative project delivery.

The Senior Director will champion integrated solutions that balance the need for rapid decarbonization with the realities of existing infrastructure and resources. This leader will oversee the execution of construction activities to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, within budget, and in accordance with industry-leading quality standards. The role also serves as a trusted partner to internal and external stakeholders, helping drive Worley's ambition to be recognized globally as a sustainability leader.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the construction management function for large, complex projects with a focus on delivering sustainable outcomes while supporting customers' current operational needs.
  • Define and implement long-term strategic initiatives to improve construction execution, safety performance, and project delivery outcomes across locations and regions.
  • Direct and mentor project construction leads, ensuring a high-performance culture that prioritizes collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish policies, procedures, and best practices that align construction delivery with Worley's sustainability targets, including safety, environmental stewardship, and ethical supply chain management.
  • Collaborate closely with project management, engineering, procurement, commissioning, and consulting teams to provide integrated solutions throughout the project lifecycle-from concept to decommissioning.
  • Act as a key advisor to executive leadership, providing insights and recommendations on construction strategy, resource planning, risk management, and operational excellence.
  • Oversee the development and management of budgets, schedules, and resource allocations to drive successful project delivery while maintaining commercial and contractual integrity.
  • Build and sustain partnerships with customers, suppliers, contractors, and regulators to maintain open communication and promote collaborative problem-solving.
  • Represent Worley's values and purpose in interactions with global and regional teams, championing diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of leadership and team development.
  • Support the development of new digital tools, systems, and processes to enhance construction efficiency and project transparency, while mentoring others on their implementation.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLSET

  • University degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in the construction and project delivery sectors.
  • Extensive senior-level experience in construction management, including significant leadership roles on large-scale, complex projects within the energy, chemicals, or resources sectors.
  • Recognized as a thought leader and subject matter expert in construction operations, project delivery, and workforce management within multicultural and multinational environments.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategic programs that drive organizational growth, sustainability outcomes, and continuous operational improvement.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction safety systems, environmental regulations, and quality assurance practices with a proven track record of embedding these principles into operations.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage large, diverse teams, including direct and indirect reports, while fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment.
  • Proficient in developing long-term plans and setting performance objectives that align with both customer requirements and corporate sustainability targets.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to present complex proposals to executive leadership, boards, and external partners with clarity and impact.
  • High level of business acumen with the ability to balance commercial, technical, and operational considerations in decision-making.
  • Expertise in construction-related systems, digital project management tools, and process improvement methodologies. Ability to guide and mentor others in the adoption of new technologies and practices.
