The impact you'll make

Join Lam as an Electrical Engineer and you'll be at the forefront, designing and developing electronic solutions for advanced applications. Your role involves designing and analyzing equipment, conducting experimental tests, evaluating results to create reliable cutting-edge solutions.

This Electrical Engineering position reports to Deposition Product Group. Responsible to develop equipment used to deposit thin metal films. Equipment designed and developed by this group is used in the manufacturing process of every integrated circuit made today.

Electrical Engineers design equipment with the following subsystems: Heater control, Pressure control, 3 phase power delivery, DC power delivery, Cable harness development, Analog control, Digital control, EtherCAT, RS232, embedded controls, RF power delivery, filter development, integration of motion control, safety certification and creation of Software functional specifications.

What you'll do
  • Design and Developed equipment from its vision to customer acceptance
  • Create hardware and systems for R&D activities
  • Analyze designs through circuit analysis and bench testing
  • Role involves 50% system integration, 20% Power and distribution, 20% controls, 10% sustaining engineering
  • Perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEAs)
  • Organize, participate and lead design reviews
  • Conduct feasibility studies - including generation of well documented test plans
  • Works with software team to ensure requirements are met
  • Works with suppliers to prepare detailed design, prototype fabrication, design testing / verification
  • Acts as a resource and mentor for more junior colleagues.
Who we're looking for

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 5+ years of experience; or Master's degree with 3+ years; or equivalent work experience.
  • Solid understanding of AC/DC Power distribution systems.
  • Hands-on experience with design and productization of electrical control systems, electrical CAD
  • Systems (Zuken E3), and practical experience with sensors, actuators, field busses (e.g. Ethernet, Serialb, EtherCAT), measurement and controls technology
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical related standards like UL, CE, IEC, SEMI, NEC
  • Knowledge of project process and has ability to apply fundamentals of the means and methods to projects
  • Excellent research and trouble-shooting skills
  • Ability to rapidly generate design concepts and implement them
  • Knowledgeable in CAD tools for circuit design and simulation (e.g., PCAD, ORCAD, ZUKEN, AutoCAD, Spice, ADS, HFSS).
  • Excellent IT knowledge, e.g. MS Windows, MS Office products
Preferred qualifications
  • Semiconductor capital equipment power distribution design experience
  • Industrial electronics, control systems, and I/O
  • High voltage power supply design
  • Working with vendors to implement your designs in a timely and cost-effective fashion
  • Highly proficient at troubleshooting systems with tools like network sniffers, protocol analyzers, oscilloscopes and tool logs.
  • Experience in troubleshooting with problem-solving techniques such as 5-why, 8D, fishbones, etc.

'On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. 'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.

Salary

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $84,000.00 -$185,000.00.

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
