What You Will Do:

The Front End Web Developer is responsible for supporting the design and development of responsive, accessible, and performant web applications. This position works closely with stakeholders and back-end developers to implement user-facing features using a variety front-end technology. This role also assists with gathering requirements, translating UI/UX wireframes into code, testing, and optimizing for maximum speed and scalability and participates in maintenance, documentation, and continuous improvement of user interfaces.



Essential Responsibilities

    Designs, builds, and maintains web sites, using authoring and scripting languages, content creation tools, management tools, and digital media
  • Designs and develops user interface applications programming and scripting languages (PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Flash)
  • Collaborates with other developers, designers and external agencies to implement creative within CMS or application framework
  • Discovers and develops new emerging technologies that can enhance the user experience
  • Maintains an active role in open-source web application development communities. Possesses a strong desire and ability to learn new technologies
  • Conducts cross-browser testing and addresses compatibility issues to ensure consistent user experience


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in design, computer science or closely related field. Candidates who do not hold a bachelor's degree but have significant related work experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience building web pages, including design and web development
  • Working knowledge of modern tools like Webpack, Vite, or CI/CD workflows
  • General understanding of building responsive websites or web apps using HTML5, CSS3, modern JavaScript and familiarity with front-end frameworks (i.e. React, Vue, Angular)
  • Working understanding of PHP/MySQL working within LAM tech stack
  • Preferred experience working with web technologies as they relate to higher education
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and break down projects into sub-components to ensure deadlines are met
  • Strong team and collaborative nature
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders including those who may not have a background in technology.

The salary range of the grade for this position is $63,288 to $91,768 annually. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate. Offers are based on multiple factors permitted by law, including but not limited to: budgetary considerations, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, market considerations, tenure and standing with the university (applicable to current employees), and internal equity.
