Job Description
SEMCO - Operations Technician I(Miss Dig) Under general supervision, the Operations Technician I (Miss Dig) plays a critical role in supporting SEMCO Energy's Operations Department by performing a wide range of field responsibilities across a designated geographic area. This position is essential to ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance of underground utility infrastructure through accurate locating, thorough documentation, and active participation in damage prevention efforts. The technician collaborates across departments, upholds compliance with industry regulations, including Public Act 174, and contributes to system upkeep, inspections, and various operational activities that protect community safety and support reliable gas distribution. Working Conditions This work is performed primarily in a field setting involving exposure to temperature, dust, and noise, and requires the use of personal protective equipment. This position may require working in confined spaces, on ladders, and in adverse weather conditions. Physical duties involve driving, sitting, bending, stooping, walking, climbing, crawling, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting, digging, operating heavy equipment, fine finger movement, and regularly lifting objects up to 50 lbs. In addition to our standard benefits package, the estimated base hourly rate for this role will range from $21.39/hour - $31.97/hour, depending on experience.
