Temple University's Purchasing Department is searching for a Senior Buyer!

Salary Range: $60,000 - $65,000
A variety of important factors are reviewed by HR when considering salary, including job duties, the applicant's education and experience, all relevant internal equity considerations, department budget, and funding source.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Purchasing Services, the Senior Buyer procures goods and services with regard to construction renovations, professional services (including consulting, engineering, architect, and design), and various commodities as assigned following established University policies, prepares bid packages and responses for negotiation/award, and supervises the daily activities of buyers. Performs other duties as assigned.

This position requires a background check due to the access or control over financial transactions for the University or the access to Personally Identifiable Information (PII)

Required Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or a related Business field.
* Three (3) years of directly related experience in procuring goods and services with regard to construction renovations, professional services, and commodities.
* Experience preparing, negotiating, and awarding agreements for various goods/services.
* Demonstrated experience supervising, managing, and coaching a staff.
* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Education and Experience
* Familiarity with an e-procurement/e-sourcing systems.
* Purchasing knowledge of bidding construction, construction renovations, professional services, and the coordination of contract agreement documents.
* Demonstrated knowledge of coordinating, finalizing and preparing detailed specifications for bid.
* Demonstrated ability to interpret contracts.


Required Skills and Abilities
* Ability to manage multiple high level projects simultaneously.
* Excellent oral, verbal, and written communication skills.
* Ability to interact with others within and outside the University for the exchange of information.
* Demonstrated experience in problem solving and using independent judgment.
* Proficiency in the use of computers and spreadsheets skills, particularly Word and Excel.
* Strong analytical, negotiating, and planning skills.

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
