Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The School of Art is an academic unit within the College of Visual and Performing Arts and is the oldest comprehensive art program in the state system. It is one of three state universities offering both BFA and MFA degrees since the 1940s. BFA concentrations are offered in New Media & Design, Painting, Printmaking & Drawing, Photography, Sculpture & Ceramics, Animation and Art Education. BA concentrations are offered in Studio Art, Arts Administration and Art History. MFA Studio Art has major concentrations in Design, Painting, Sculpture, and Art History course requirements. Approximately 500 undergraduate students and 16 graduate students make up the current student body. The School of Art currently has 30 faculty which includes tenured or tenure track positions, lecturers, and part-time instructors. There are two secretarial positions (an executive assistant and administrative support associate), as well as a visual resources curator and gallery curator. The department also has a varying number of undergraduate student assistants and graduate assistants as well as 4 adjunct faculty members from the Weatherspoon Art Museum.
Position Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to support the Director of the School of Art in both day-to-day operations and long-range planning for a unit encompassing a diverse range of academic and administrative functions. This position operates with minimal supervision and is expected to exercise significant independence and sound judgment. The Business Services Coordinator serves as a key liaison within the School, regularly interacting with internal and external stakeholders-including faculty and staff, other University departments, representatives from state agencies and accrediting bodies, external vendors, and the general public. This role is responsible for coordinating a broad portfolio of business operations, including budgeting, accounting, grants administration, purchasing, payroll, personnel administration, inventory control, and financial reporting. While the position reports directly to the School Director, it also holds a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Assistant Dean of Budget and Operations for the College of Visual and Performing Arts ( CVPA). In this capacity, the Business Services Coordinator takes direction from the Assistant Dean of Budget and Operations to ensure alignment with college-wide financial procedures, reporting standards, and strategic priorities as directed.
Minimum Qualifications

BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION OR A RELATED DISCIPLINE; OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE. ALL DEGREES MUST BE RECEIVED FROM APPROPRIATELY ACCREDITED INSTITUTIONS.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related business area and two years of administrative management or business management experience.
