In this entry level reporting analyst role, you will work under the guidance of the Director of IT Financial Platform Architecture to bolster the overarching reporting strategy and operations at the Broad Institute. Your primary responsibilities will involve collaborating with a broad range of stake holders to collect, analyze and interpret complex data that will ultimately help our organization make informed business decisions. Collaborating closely with the Director and fellow team members, you will construct robust reporting structures optimized for swift data retrieval and storage to support enterprise reporting needs.

  • Able to understand different data schemas, e.g. Star, Snowflake, etc.
  • Follows best database development practices
  • Creative approach to solving problem solving
  • Effectively manage time and prioritize projects to meet established deadlines
  • Work independently as well as cooperatively in a team environment; communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form, with all levels of the organization
  • Solid functional knowledge and understanding of IT processes and data, including workflows


Key role responsibilities

  • Create reports, dashboards and other data visualizations to communicate complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement data-driven solutions to business problems
  • Create robust documentation to support all aspects of the development process from specification to testing frameworks
  • Utilize strong understanding of the SQL programming language to write complex queries that can retrieve, manipulate, or update data
  • Optimize large, complicated SQL statements
  • Create robust testing frameworks for purposes of troubleshooting
  • Leverage domain expertise and data / business / process analysis to inform and support solution design
  • Design and develop reports utilizing a variety of tools including SQL
  • Assist staff with creation of queries to support their day-to-day responsibilities, as well as create ad hoc reports, as required.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration or related field
  • At least 1 year experience coding in SQL (gained through coursework and/or professional work experience)
  • Experience presenting data using data visualization tools like PowerBI, Tableau, etc.
  • Experience in MS Excel (x-lookups, pivot tables, etc.)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous professional experience gained through internship opportunities
  • Exposure to Informatica
  • Familiarity with ERPs like SAP, Oracle, etc.
  • Ability to code in Python
  • Previous experience with modern relational databases (AWS, GCP, Snowflake)

This role requires a hybrid work schedule with a requirement for 2 days a week in the office in Cambridge, MA and 3 days a week work from home.
