Overview

Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for an IT Business Analyst in the Wheeling, WV, Austin or Houston offices. This is a hybrid role.

Under the direction of the IT PMO Manager, and working with other members of the PMO, you will gather, review, analyze, and summarize business requirements into easy to understand user stories or requirement documents for our Information Technology team members. You will need to have, or gain, a working knowledge of multiple business systems to effectively drive business requirements towards the most effective and efficient business system. You will develop, accumulate, and organize content for a variety of IT initiatives, work independently and in conjunction with other members of the PMO on a broad range of projects, and participate in cross-functional teams.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with all lawyer and staff teams on bringing innovative products to fruition.
  • Evaluate business processes, anticipate requirements, uncover areas for improvement, and develop and implement solutions.
  • Employ new and creative communication technologies and methods to ensure lawyers and staff can obtain a more complete understanding of the necessary business systems.
  • Lead ongoing reviews of business processes and develop optimization strategies.
  • Scope new project requests and ideas to ensure projects are strategically aligned and prioritized.
  • Identify scope and requirements on a project-by-project basis to define impact, outcome criteria, and metrics.
  • Elicit, document and analyze project requirements using standard templates.
  • Create process diagrams and perform systems analysis to gain a solid understanding of processes, systems and data.
  • Prepare clear and concise requirements models to provide direction to developers and/or project team.
  • Develop effective business case documentation to justify the necessary investment in projects and demonstrate that they deliver value.
  • Prepare cost estimates and develop a cost/benefit analysis of new requests and project ideas.
  • Create wireframes and mockups to help gather requirements and visualize proposed solution.
  • Perform functional, regression, user acceptance and other related types of testing to ensure solutions meet specified requirements.
  • Provide training and support to users and stakeholders on new solutions and processes.
  • Manage projects related to business analysis, develop project plans, and monitor performance.
  • Conduct meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings.
  • Document and communicate your insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest process and IT advancements to automate and modernize systems.
  • Update, implement and maintain procedures and standards.
  • Prioritize initiatives based on business needs and requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between stakeholders and IT team members to ensure clear communication and understanding of business needs.
  • Manage competing resources and priorities.
  • Monitor deliverables and ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Business Administration, or similar or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years demonstrated business analysis.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in professional services environment.
  • Working experience with IIBA BABOK.
  • Strong understanding of Business Analysis methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for data analysis, documentation, and presentations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Visio and/or other process diagramming tools.
  • Knowledge of data modeling and database concepts.
  • Strong understanding of systems integrations and interactions.
  • Possess experience with information systems in a client service-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication and organization skills.
  • Initiative in working with users, internal teams and third parties.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is between $58,000 - $86,000.

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick's estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
