Overview

Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for an IT Project Manager in the Wheeling, WV, Austin or Houston offices. This is a hybrid role.

Under the direction of the IT PMO Manager, and working with other members of the PMO, as an IT Project Manager you will plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. You will also define the project's objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.


Responsibilities

  • Manage project development of limited complexity from beginning to end.
  • Assist in developing project scope, goals and deliverables that support business objectives in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Support the preparation of project proposals, timeframes, schedules, and budgets.
  • Assist in developing project plans and project milestones and associated communications documents.
  • Communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Collaborate with resource managers to estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Follow recommended approach to set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Identify, refer or escalate unresolved project issues and conflicts for resolution.
  • Track project performance and timelines using appropriate tools, templates and processes provided.
  • Assist in developing progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Assist in managing changes to project scope, project schedule, and project costs using contingency planning activities and other appropriate techniques.
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project lifecycle.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies such as stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, etc.
  • Coordinate project team members and contractors and review their assigned work to verify accurate execution and conformance to procedures.
  • Conduct post-project reviews and project lessons learned to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation and reports.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • Assist in documenting project management standards and procedures.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and project management best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Business Administration, or similar or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Prior demonstrated experience in project coordination or management preferred.
  • Familiarity with project management software.
  • Familiarity with Waterfall, Agile/Scrum, and other project management methodologies.
  • Basic understanding of software development life cycles (SDLC).
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in professional services environment.
  • Experience with information systems in a client service-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Initiative in working with users, internal teams and third parties.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is between $58,000.00 - $86,000.00.

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick's estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
