As the Trucking Foreman, you are responsible to safely assign equipment and personnel for completion of duties or deliveries to ensure on time and efficient use of aggregate resources by dispatching trucks and personnel in a timely manner to ensure the targeted service level and cost. Duties and/or Responsibilities:
- Supervises 10-20 drivers and assigns appropriate equipment and personnel for completion of duties and deliveries, including leased drivers when needed.
- Keeps Operations Supervisor and drivers informed of tasks and situations so schedule can be updated as needed.
- Directs activities of drivers and confers with customers, plant production and yard personnel.
- May issue equipment to drivers.
- Verifies and Approves timecards, and tracks and reports time off/attendance of drivers and personnel.
- Quotes price's, receives orders, and schedules deliveries of company products.
- Answers phone to take/alter customer's order and complete all required information. Ensure the customer understands all relevant company policies, additional products over amount ordered, and our driver's responsibilities.
- Verify the order back to the customer to ascertain the accuracy of the information. Confirm customer billing account or if payment arrangements have been made with the office. Inform the customer of warnings concerning product hazards, load limits, vehicle weights and limitations.
- Properly file the order and special instructions and give adequate notice to ensure proper materials are available.
- Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations . Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others.
- Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.). Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors
- Ensure OSHA, EPA, DOT, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- General education, grammar and arithmetic, GED or high school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of telephone service or order taking in a business environment.
- Concrete and Aggregate product training and dispatch experience preferred
- Ability to work 50+ hours per week during construction season including occasional Saturday mornings
