The Job at a Glance

We're looking for a Director, Cloud & Platform Architect to lead the design and implementation of our next-gen Azure-based infrastructure and Kubernetes environment. You'll drive our cloud strategy while ensuring scalability, security, and reliability across systems. This hybrid role blends cloud architecture with hands-on platform engineering, CI/CD automation, and infrastructure optimization to support enterprise applications and e-commerce operations.

A Typical Day

  • Cloud Architecture Design & Implementation
    • Design and deploy Azure-based infrastructure to modernize our data center.
    • Build scalable Kubernetes (AKS) environments for enterprise and e-commerce applications.
    • Create a shared Azure platform for four business divisions with clear frameworks and guardrails.
    • Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and alignment with business goals
  • Kubernetes and Platform Engineering
    • Manage and optimize Kubernetes clusters for containerized workloads.
    • Build CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
    • Automate infrastructure with Terraform, Pulumi, or ARM templates.
    • Set up observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor)
  • Infrastructure Cutover Management
    • Lead infrastructure migrations, upgrades, and data center transitions.
    • Develop and execute detailed cutover plans with rollback strategies.
    • Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders for smooth transitions.
  • Shared Azure Platform Development
    • Build shared services (identity, networking, monitoring) for all divisions.
    • Enforce security, compliance, and best practices while enabling team independence.
  • Work closely with e-commerce front-end engineers to co-own:
    • Partner with front-end engineers on performance, API integration, and Kubernetes deployment.
    • Ensure reliability, monitoring, and low-latency for high-traffic e-commerce workloads.
  • Security and Compliance Across B2B and B2C
    • Implement secure architecture for both B2B and B2C platforms.
    • Support compliance and data sovereignty across global regions.
    • Use role-based access controls and secure networking solutions.
  • Optimization and Cost Management
    • Monitor and optimize cloud costs using tools like Azure Cost Management and Azure Advisor.
    • Implement cost-saving measures such as right-sizing resources, automating scale-out/-in policies, and optimizing container workloads.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Evaluate new Azure services, Kubernetes enhancements, and platform tools to ensure Parts Town leverages cutting-edge solutions.
    • Mentor IT teams on cloud and Kubernetes best practices, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.

To Land This Opportunity

  • You have 10+ years in IT infrastructure, cloud architecture, or platform engineering
  • You demonstrate 3+ years of experience building and deploying Azure environments
  • You obtain strong Kubernetes (AKS) and microservices experience
  • You have proven track record with cloud migrations and infrastructure cutovers
  • You're skilled in CI/CD, Terraform/Pulumi, and monitoring tools
  • You have experience with global compliance and security standards
  • You're an all-star communicator and are proficient in English (both written and verbal)
  • You have a quality, high speed internet connection at home

The salary range for this role is $155,278.21 - 229,984.82 which is based on including but not limited to qualifications, experience, and geographical location. Parts Town is a pay for performance-company. In addition to base pay, some roles offer a profit-sharing program, and an annual bonus depending on the role. Our comprehensive benefits package includes health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k) with match, employee assistance programs, paid time off, paid sick time off, paid holidays, paid parental leave, and professional development opportunities.
