About the Role

The Sr Director, Market Access reports to the President & CEO and is responsible for the development and execution of the value and market access strategy and strategic positioning that will enable the Currax portfolio of drugs to secure profitable formulary access across all commercial and government channels in the payer landscape. This critical leadership role will ensure that products are positioned for success by securing coverage, reimbursement, and adoption across national and regional payer channels, including PBMs, MCOs, IDNs, employers and government accounts (VA/DOD). This role will lead the company's profitable go-to-market strategy for payers, develop pricing and contracting strategies, and guide the organization on evolving healthcare policy and payer dynamics. The Sr Director is a cross-functional leadership role that is highly matrixed with key leaders across the organization to develop market access and trade strategies and will partner across multiple functional areas including Medical Affairs, Marketing, Finance, Field Sales, and Business Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Market Access Strategy: Develop and implement best-in-class access strategies to secure profitable product positioning across Medical and Pharmacy benefit formularies in all lines of business.
  • Market Intelligence: Leverage a deep understanding of the evolving healthcare landscape to identify opportunities within national and key accounts that align with both business and customer goals.
  • Account Strategy & Engagement: Design and execute innovative approaches to maximize engagement and performance across strategic payer accounts.
  • Go-to-Market Leadership: Define and lead the company's go-to-market strategy for payer organizations, prioritizing target institutions and identifying partnership opportunities.
  • Payer Negotiations: Engage directly with payer stakeholders to communicate product value, negotiate access and contract terms, and advocate for favorable coverage decisions.
  • Payer Marketing: Develop payer-facing value communication materials to support positive coverage decisions and create strategic content to enable effective pull-through by the field sales team.
  • Pricing & Contracting: Set pricing strategies and develop clear contracting guidelines, including rebate and discount structures aligned with business objectives.
  • Operational Excellence: Support the execution of payer-related initiatives, ensuring infrastructure is in place to streamline coverage and reimbursement processes.
  • Internal Education: Create and deliver training content to enhance cross-functional understanding of market access dynamics, payer decision-making, and commercial impact.
  • Field Communication: Ensure timely identification and communication of impactful coverage decisions and emerging field-facing opportunities across National, Regional, and Territory levels.
  • Health Economics: Inform the cost-effectiveness strategy through support of evidence generation, budget impact analyses, and health outcomes research.
  • Compliance: Ensure all activities are aligned with applicable healthcare compliance and regulatory standards.
  • Business Reviews: Conduct quarterly reviews of key accounts and provide actionable insights to sales and executive leadership.
  • Industry Representation: Serve as a senior representative at relevant conferences, conventions, and industry forums.

Required Qualification & Skills

  • 10-15+ years of progressive experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a strong focus on National Accounts, Market Access, or related leadership roles.
  • Proven success in negotiating with major payer organizations, including PBMs, MCOs, IDNs, employer groups, and government entities (e.g., VA, DoD).
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing pricing, reimbursement, and contracting strategies, including rebate and discount frameworks.
  • Experience supporting market access operations, and health economics and outcomes research (HEOR).
  • Deep knowledge of the regulatory and compliance landscape governing pharmaceutical market access.
  • Strong ethical foundation and unwavering commitment to healthcare compliance.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50%.
