Population Health Quality Data Analyst

This position works with team members in the evaluation of data sets on various dimensions of data quality, such as accuracy, completeness, and duplication of data. The incumbent analyzes the scope of work, requirements, tasks, resolves data quality issues, and prepares data for quality measure processing. The incumbent works with data in a relational database environment performing extract, transform, and load (ETL) activities including pattern analysis of health care data including claims, provider, and member data. The incumbent will participate in complex data loads, queries, stored procedures and processes to maintain data integrity within the database and possesses the ability to independently move work forward.

Essential Functions
  • Develop, modify, execute queries for large-scale data extraction, perform comprehensive data pre-processing of claims, encounter, and other related healthcare data (cleansing, aggregating, sorting), and effectively combine multiple data sources for standard and ad-hoc requests. Analyze complex data, synthesize analytic insights with business questions and policy knowledge.
  • Work with program leadership in a customer facing role to understand client data and analyze client data to determine overall data quality and its potential impact to quality measure outcomes. Coordinates research data inquiries and works with database developers for optimization.
  • Work with team leads and members in planning, designing and performing data and pattern analysis of specific health care activities or projects. May provide consultation to team members and Program Management leadership. Stays abreast of database and data processing technologies.
  • Creates and maintains documentation to support data management activities. Creates and manages User Stories through Jira to track tasks and projects.
Requirements:
  • Four-year degree in statistics, mathematics, Computer Science or related field and/or equivalent training and/or experience
  • Experience analyzing healthcare Medicaid and Medicare claims data
  • 3-5 years in data management, analysis, and processing
  • Demonstrated experience using advanced SQL
  • Experience with Data Warehouse data mapping and problem solving.
  • Expertise claims data, Member, Enrollment, Provider, Lab, Visits, Pharmacy, etc.
  • Experience in data validation and quality assurance
  • Experience with ETL processing
  • Experience with combining data from multiple data sources
  • Comfortable with customer facing role and engagement
  • Ability to work with ambiguity
