We are looking for Versatile, curious, and energetic Software Engineers who embrace solving complex challenges on a global scale. As a Visa Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of a multi-functional development team inventing, designing, building, and testing software products that reach a truly global customer base. While building components of powerful payment technology, you will get to see your efforts shaping the digital future of monetary transactions.

The Work itself:

• Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend services and APIs to support GenAI-powered applications.

• Work closely with senior engineers to integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) and other AI capabilities into backend systems.

• Build and maintain RESTful or gRPC APIs to serve AI-generated content and responses.

• Support the implementation of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines using vector databases and document stores.

• Contribute to the development and testing of orchestration workflows using frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, or similar.

• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following best practices in software engineering and security.

• Collaborate with product managers, ML engineers, and frontend developers to deliver end-to-end AI-powered experiences.

• Participate in code reviews, debugging, and performance tuning of backend systems.

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize backend services for latency, reliability, and scalability.

• Stay up to date with emerging GenAI technologies and backend tools, and proactively contribute ideas for innovation and improvement.

Essential Functions:

• Demonstrates basic knowledge and asks questions about project requirements.

• Reviews and asks questions about solution strategies that improve the design and functionality of a payment product feature.

• Applies standard processes on the use of front-end programming languages (e.g. HTML, C++, Java) to write code that fulfills website modification requests and technical requirements, under close guidance.

• Works under close guidance from others to support the piloting of new technology capabilities and features that enhance the user website experience across e-commerce products.

• Identifies and advances bugs that threaten website functionality

Basic Qualifications:

*Proficiency in backend programming languages such as Python, Java, Go, or Node.js.

*Experience building RESTful APIs, microservices, or backend systems using frameworks like Flask, FastAPI, Spring Boot, or Express.js.

*Familiarity with LLMs (e.g., GPT, Claude, Mistral) and how to integrate them into backend services via APIs.

*Understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) workflows and experience with vector databases like Pinecone, Weaviate, or FAISS.

*Exposure to orchestration and agentic frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or Autogen is a plus.

*Basic experience with message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ), containerization (Docker), and CI/CD pipelines.

*Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), particularly compute (e.g., Lambda, ECS, GKE), storage, and serverless services.

*Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB).

*Interest in scalable GenAI infrastructure, model deployment, prompt engineering, and API-driven AI applications.

*Strong problem-solving abilities and a collaborative mindset to work across teams and disciplines.

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel5-10% of the time.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 84,600.00 to 119,650.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
