Pay Grade: 401

Pay Rate: $16.00 - $20.00

Job Summary:

As the Pantry Lead, you will be responsible for stocking, cleaning, and preparing the Pantry with food and household goods. During Pantry operating hours the Pantry/Community Food Market Lead will aid shoppers with item selection and securing a friendly/safe environment for TSA staff and community residents. The associate will assist with ordering food from outside linkages, will assist the Social Services Director in overseeing the daily duties of volunteers, inputting data into the computer, assist with the monthly impact report. Pantry Lead will keep the refrigerator and freezer clean, organized, and stocked. Will bag/box up food for the deep freezer and will assist with the ongoing overall organization and cleanliness of the warehouse. They will also make the Social Services Director aware of any repairs that need to be made to non-functioning or damaged property.

Experience:

At least two years of experience in social services. Must have good organizational skills, computer skills, reading skills, effective problem-solving skills, and good judgement. Must have a valid driver's license and approval to drive a Salvation Army vehicle. Pass a background check and be familiar with the mission of The Salvation Army. This person is expected to abide by all SFH policies and should be trained in such.

Responsibilities:



  • Stock Pantry shelves, refrigerator, and freezers
  • Safely operate a box truck or other Salvation Army vehicles to pick up food donations from various donors, including grocery stores, food banks, and community partners.
  • Pre-make basic boxes for pantry clients
  • Unload food pickups and store in designated place(s)
  • Bag up small items to stock shelves
  • Assist Social Services Director with ordering food
  • Clean Pantry/Community Food Market and Warehouse floors regularly (daily) or as needed
  • Oversee the daily setup, operation, and closing of the food pantry.
  • Implement and maintain efficient food sorting and storage systems (e.g., FIFO - First In, First Out). Keep a close eye on expired (sell by) or spoiled items and dispose of properly
  • Greet and assist pantry clients with compassion and respect, ensuring a positive and dignified experience.
  • Provide directions to volunteers & helpers
  • Keep daily/weekly stats book up to date
  • Keep all Logs (Freezer & Fridge Temps, etc..) up-to-date
  • Monitor volunteer hours in binder and send to Mindy weekly.
  • Breakdown boxes & dispose of properly
  • Must have computer skills Microsoft (Word and Excel)
  • Other tasks as assigned by Social Services Director or Corps Officers

Physical Demands/ Work Environment:

Must be able to lift, carry and or move 50 pounds on a regular basis.
