DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will undertake a range of technical responsibilities within the Operations sector of a traffic control program. Your duties will encompass various technical tasks associated with key publications, including Pub 46, Pub 111, Pub 236, Pub 212, Pub 408, MUTCD, and Pub 113. You will apply established traffic control criteria to analyze traffic data and devise effective solutions for traffic control challenges. Additionally, you will provide technical support to both internal teams and external clients regarding signing and detour matters. Upon receiving requests from your supervisor or the Traffic Engineer for Scoping Field Views, you will develop initial detour routes for diverse projects, ensuring that all plans are saved in both Micro Station and Adobe formats within the designated folder on the J: drive.
You will also be responsible for reviewing detour plans, whether created in-house or by consultants, to ensure they meet the standards of 100% accuracy and completeness, as well as adherence to the guidelines outlined in Pub 213. Any necessary modifications will be made to the plans before returning them to the sender and your supervisor. Furthermore, you will monitor county activities for any SAP-related concerns, assist county personnel with SAP issues, and review county updates for accuracy as required. An essential part of your role will involve reviewing, updating, and maintaining the current sign inventory database in SAP, ensuring that all new district signing changes are accurately recorded each fiscal year. This includes updates related to construction projects initiated by County/Maintenance Forces or private contractors, as directed. You will also be responsible for creating notifications to the counties and verifying that all signing dates in SAP are correct and up to date, ensuring the database remains current and free of errors. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Hollidaysburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or
- One year of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
