DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Communications Office is responsible for media outreach and inquires, press events, news releases, social media, websites and photography and video to illustrate and represent the Department's goals and objectives. As a Press Assistant, you will assist in writing and editing a variety of publications for the department to include brochures, newsletters, featured articles and more. Work includes assisting in responding to media inquiries and interview requests in addition to writing speeches and preparing media advisories and press releases for dissemination to the media. You will have the opportunity to plan, organize and execute special events such as press conferences and community events. - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 45-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to five days within a ten day pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Annville. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of professional experience in public relations, editing, or journalism and an associate's degree with major course work in journalism, communications, English, or a related field; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must possess a valid federal or state-issued photo ID and pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
