Summary of Position We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Door Hardware Technician to join our team, based out of York, PA. This role involves the installation, maintenance, repair, and adjustment of commercial and residential door hardware systems, including locks, closers, exit devices, hinges, and electronic access control components. Typical Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Install, maintain, and repair mechanical and electronic door hardware systems (e.g., locks, hinges, door closers, panic bars, strikes, etc.).
- Read and interpret construction drawings, door schedules, and hardware templates.
- Ensure hardware is installed per specifications and aligned with building codes and safety standards.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose door/hardware issues; recommend appropriate solutions.
- Work closely with project managers, general contractors, and other trades on job sites.
- Adjust and align doors and frames for proper operation.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on installed hardware.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and hardware installed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications a plus.
- 2+ years experience in door hardware installation or related field. (e.g., locksmith, commercial carpentry)
- Knowledge of commercial and residential door hardware systems.
- Ability to read blueprints, hardware schedules, and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with ADA, fire code, and building code compliance.
- Comfortable using hand and power tools.
- Physical ability to lift heavy doors/hardware and work on ladders or lifts.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
