Description
Lipscomb University seeks a mission-driven Senior Director of Academic Success and Retention to lead the Coggin Family Academic Success Center and champion student achievement from onboarding through graduation. This leader provides strategic vision and guidance for initiatives that support enrollment, retention, and degree completion. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor Academic Success Coaches as they coach and advise students, collaborating closely with Career Development, the Registrar, and Admissions.
- Oversee student support programs, including peer tutoring, supplemental instruction, workshops, ASC Days, and partnerships that enhance the student experience.
- Manage the Empower program for conditionally admitted students.
- Collaborate as a Learning Commons Leadership team member to support students academically and professionally.
- Guide students returning from suspension, manage academic standing and appeals, and oversee the grade appeal process.
- Serve as an Academic Success Coach and academic advisor for assigned cohorts (first-time freshmen, sophomores, transfers), helping students develop and revise academic plans, monitor progress, and navigate university policies.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure accurate degree plans and catalog updates.
- Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of Tennessee Transfer Pathway degree plans to support seamless student transfer and degree completion.
- Liaise with the Registrar and IT to streamline transfer credit evaluations, degree audits, and process improvements.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
- Experience in academic advising, student success, or higher education administration.
- Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to proactive, student-centered support and a passion for helping students overcome barriers.
