Responsibilities

NV5 is seeking an Inspector/Office Engineer to work full-time on a landmark linear multi-modal recreational and transit corridor project in Essex County, NJ. Full-time on site and thereafter as required on other NJ Transportation projects. 5-10 years minimum experience in a similar construction environment. Previous experience on NJDOT, NJTA and/or NJDEP projects is beneficial.

Responsibilities

    Perform roles delegated by the Senior Resident Engineer.
  • Conduct regular on-site inspections during various phases of construction.
  • Verify that work is proceeding according to approved plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Verify that materials and methods used are appropriate and meet standards.
  • Write detailed daily inspection, safety and environmental reports and maintain logs of daily activities, deficiencies, and progress.
  • Photograph work for documentation and future reference.
  • Identify and report on unsafe conditions or practices on-site.
  • Maintain and organize all project documentation, including RFIs (Requests for Information), submittals, shop drawings, change orders, and daily reports.
  • Ensure all project records are updated, accurate, and easily accessible.
  • Track quantities on site for monthly estimates.


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5-10 years' experience as Construction Inspector/Office Engineer on NJDOT, NJTA and/or NJDEP projects.
  • Detailed orientated.
  • Experience with construction documentation.
  • Experience in document control required.
  • Ability to maintain field and office records and perform quantity computations.
  • Experience reading and interpreting plans and specifications.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Collaborate with multiple team members.
  • Physical ability and coordination to safely maneuver around construction sites.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • NICET Level III Certification in Transportation/Highway Construction required or able to attain within 6 months of employment.
  • NJSAT, Rutgers TCP, ACI Field Technician Grade I & ACI CCTC, and OSHA certifications preferred.

Compensation: $120,000 - 140,000 per year. Actual compensation will be dependent on the individual's qualifications, skills, experience, and physical work location.

Base pay offered for this New Jersey based role may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
