Medicaid Fraud Division: Dedicated, specially-trained personnel with a passion for protecting the TennCare program and the citizens of the state of Tennessee. Every year, MFCD Agents assist in the investigation and prosecution of criminal cases and pursue the recovery of millions of dollars lost from the Medicaid/TennCare program. Additionally, in the area of patient abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation, the MFCD investigates and prosecutes offenders and refers individuals to the Tennessee Department of Health for consideration of placement on the state's Abuse Registry.

How you make a difference in this role:

In this role, you'll be at the heart of our legal and investigative operations, playing a vital part in advancing the mission of the Medicaid Fraud Control Division. Your work will directly support attorneys and special agents. You'll help ensure the integrity and efficiency of our case management systems, contribute to trial preparation, and assist with the execution of search warrants and evidence processing. Beyond casework, your contributions to reporting, grant recertification, and statistical analysis will help shape our strategic direction and maintain compliance. You'll also have the opportunity to refine our internal processes by updating standard operating procedures and supporting administrative functions. Every task you take on will help strengthen the divisions effectiveness and uphold justice for vulnerable populations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists MFCD attorneys with legal research and preparation of case files.
  • Catalogs civil case complaints and coordinates with State Attorney General's Office.
  • Prepares case reports and assists with report processing in electronic case file system.
  • Assists with tracking and reporting case dispositions and judgments.
  • Prepares presentations for MFCD legal staff.
  • Assists with preparation of various reporting requirements to include grant recertification and Annual Statistical Report.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with state Attorney General, US Attorney, and District Attorney as necessary.
  • Supports special agents with case report processing.
  • Assists special agents with legal processes and search warrant preparation.
  • When necessary, assists special agents on location with search warrant executions and processing of evidence.
  • Assists special agents with trial preparation to include record keeping, visual aids, and courtroom assistance.
  • Periodically reviews and updates the division's standard operating procedures.
  • Provides support to the Assistant Director and administrative staff as needed with administrative matters such as time and attendance, inventory, monthly and quarterly reporting, and preparation of documents, spreadsheets, charts, and graphs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or associate degree in paralegal studies from a program approved by the American Bar Association.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of full-time professional staff administrative experience or related work.
  2. Prior experience in healthcare law and regulation and/or criminal law.
