Position Summary The ULAR Animal Training Manager will oversee the strategic development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive ULAR husbandry and/or veterinary technical training programs. This role will involve the creation and delivery of high-level training curricula, as well as the documentation and assessment of the effectiveness of the ULAR husbandry training program for both small and large laboratory animal species, ensuring strict adherence to facility SOPs. The Training Manager will also be responsible for conducting advanced evaluations of technical skills and ensuring continuous improvement within the training process. In addition, the ULAR Training Manager will lead, coordinate, and facilitate both didactic and hands-on investigator training sessions, either independently or in collaboration with other subject matter experts, as required.


Required Education and Experience Associates of Science degree or degree in Veterinary Technology or a related degree in life sciences. Minimum of five (5) years related experience in the lab animal industry, predominately in lab animal training, lab animal husbandry and/or veterinary technical support & care. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.


Required Skills and Abilities Demonstrated ability to create/implement new programs in adherence to established policies and procedures.


Excellent oral and written communication skills


Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, service-oriented, rapidly changing environment to accomplish mutual goals.


Ability to work independently and effectively across organizational lines and in collaboration with colleagues throughout the organization.


Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; aptitude for detailed work


Project management skills/experience


Experience providing FAST feedback


Preferred Prior training experience with various lab animal species on husbandry and technical procedures is strongly preferred. AALAS Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) certification is also preferred. This position will be on-site.
