Description
The Product Market Manager oversees product and asset profitability for assigned product lines. Specific focus of the role is to:

*Own product strategy and profitability by managing life cycle planning, asset competitiveness, pricing, and financial performance to drive long-term growth and investment cases

*Lead cross-functional execution of new product introductions and global product line strategies, from market assessment and concept evaluation through to launch and activation

*Define and implement value propositions and pricing strategies based on economic impact for target customers, aligning with sales and marketing to ensure effective execution

*Drive competitive positioning and margin delivery through market intelligence, cost analysis, and value-based selling enablement

Job Details

Role Specific Responsibilities:

PRODUCT MANAGEMENT & LEADERSHIP

  • Product Life Cycle Planning: Anticipate and implement product feature changes to ensure long term competitiveness of product line by working closely with Technology, Manufacturing & Sourcing
  • Input to Asset Strategy: Work with Manufacturing and Sourcing teams to ensure short medium- and long-term competitiveness of product line and profitability of assets
  • Product Line Profitability: Responsible for reporting financial progress of the assigned product lines by analyzing current performance (gross margin, sales funnel health, new product innovation portfolio) to build the case for further investment (talent and capital)
  • New Product Introductions: Leads the evaluation of asset utilization, profitability, and market activation execution for new product opportunities and launches from concept through to launch. Conducts economic evaluation of new offering and capabilities.

MARKET ASSESSMENT, CUSTOMER SEGMENTATION & TARGETING
* Create an addressable market map for the assigned product line, prioritize attractive applications and customers, and identify products and services that create the most value for those customers
* Responsible for leading a cross-functional team to develop and implement the global product line strategies
* Growth will be driven by effectively positioning current products and translating wins across industries, and by identifying new product innovation concepts to advance through the company innovation process with the cross-functional team


VALUE PROPOSITION & OFFER DEVELOPMENT
* Understand the unique capabilities, differentiators and benefits that will enable Aurorium to create value for target customers. Build economic value estimates to clearly articulate the positive economic impact for the customer
* Build the product pricing strategy for target segments and customers by understanding the value created for the customer and informed by knowledge of the Aurorium margin expectations
* Work with the relevant Industry Marketing Managers & Sales to implement the pricing strategy with target customers. Manages the day-to-day execution and implementation of the pricing strategy
* Identify additional elements of the customer offer to create even more compelling value propositions, and be integral to connecting the supply and demand plans to manage the business


DEMAND PLANNING & EXECUTION
* Competitive Intelligence and Cost Position: Understand key direct and indirect competitor go to market strategies, cost position/curves and identify growth opportunities through competitive differentiation
* Pricing & Margin Management and Implementation: Deliver gross margin by implementing Pricing Strategy through Price Band Management and enabling the Sales Team to position value with customers effectively

Education and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering or related technical area
  • Master's degree in business administration is preferred

Experience:
  • BS in Technical Field (Chemistry, Engineering, or Related Field) or Business Degree. MBA preferred
  • 7-10 Years of Product, Industry or Strategic Marketing experience with a multi-national chemical company; international experience within a global business environment preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong organizational, analytical and project management skills
  • Problem-solving abilities with the ability to anticipate potential issues and suggest creative alternatives to overcome barriers
  • Ability to work within and/or lead (as required) a multi-functional, global team structure and to motivate team members and peers with strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to lead and manage simultaneous projects in multiple locations. Hands-on style and willingness to engage proactively up, down and across the organization and management team
  • Strong presence, interpersonal communication and presentation skills including the ability to put together a visually sharp presentation to communicate ideas. Understands and can communicate the big picture while also being detail-oriented especially when presenting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook).
  • Experience required with an ERP system. SAP would be a plus.
  • Persistent, determined, and driven. Has a penchant to move obstacles rather than get stuck by them
  • Ability to work in 'the grey' and be self-directed, and can navigate through change/uncertainty without losing sight of achieving success
