Salary Grade: T24

Salary Range: $40,000 - $50,000

Position Summary:

The Simulation Operations Technician supports the Director and Assistant Director of Simulation Education in delivering high-quality clinical training. They are integral to the effective operation of the simulation center by managing the setup, execution, and breakdown of simulation courses. This position is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting high-fidelity patient simulators, task trainers, medical equipment, and audiovisual systems to ensure optimal performance. As a subject matter expert, the technician provides hands-on training and technical consultation to faculty and instructional staff and oversees requests for equipment and supplies to support educational needs.

The William Maul Measey Institute for Clinical Simulation and Patient Safety is accredited by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) as an Accredited Education Institute (AEI). Our mission is to provide excellence in the training of the art and science of medicine and surgery, using a traditional laboratory setting, state-of the - art augmented reality, and simulation for learners including practicing physicians and residents, emergency response personnel, and allied health students and professionals. Facilitate maintenance of clinical and procedural skills for all levels of learners to promote patient safety. Use multiple modalities to fulfill the mission and become a leader in medical and surgical education and patient safety initiatives.

Required Education and Experience:

* Bachelor's Degree

* 2 or more years' relevant experience

* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Education and Experience:

* A background in simulation or technology is preferred.

Required Skills and Abilities:

* Strong written/verbal communication and organizational skills

* Demonstrated project management

* Working knowledge of common applicable computer software and ability to learn additional software as necessary

* Ability to work occasional nights, weekends and overtime

* Strong IT skills and knowledge of MS Office Suite

* Ability to work with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff and program participants

* Ability to stand for several hours.

* Ability to lift up to 40lbs

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

* Simulation background

* Medical background

* Strong IT skills and knowledge of data capture systems (EMS SIMULATIONiQ , Laerdal, Gaumard)

Essential Duties:

* Sets up and breaks down simulation courses, including configuring patient simulators, task trainers, medical equipment, supplies, and audiovisual systems.

* Ensures simulation spaces are reset efficiently between scenarios to support uninterrupted clinical training and session flow.

* Oversee the routine maintenance and technical functionality of simulation equipment and systems, including software and hardware upgrades, managing service agreements, troubleshooting technical and logistical issues, overseeing and documenting repairs, interfacing with equipment manufacturers regarding troubleshooting and system problems, and ensuring operational efficiency for all simulators.

* Acts as the simulation center's subject matter expert for patient simulators, task trainers, medical equipment, and supplies.

* Provides comprehensive training, technical support, and consultation to faculty, instructional and ICS staff to optimize simulation-based education.

* Develop proficiency with learning management systems (LMS), patient simulator software, and audiovisual platforms.

* Program simulator software to reflect appropriate physiological responses and operate simulation systems in real time to support dynamic clinical scenarios.

* Manages borrowing equipment and supply requests. Coordinates the setting up of equipment in classrooms to ensure readiness and functionality for educational sessions.

* Maintains up-to-date knowledge of clinical simulation products and technology advancements.

* Under supervision, supports the selection, acquisition, and clinical evaluation of simulation models and equipment to ensure they meet the fidelity and training needs.

* Maintains and manages consumable inventory by tracking usage and identifying replenishment needs.

* Communicates ordering requests to the administrator to ensure the continuous availability of simulation supplies.

* Collaborates with the Center for Innovation to design and develop 3D models.

* Research moulage techniques and apply them to patient simulators to enhance clinical realism.

* Design and construct low-cost, DIY simulators to support training objectives.

* Obtain certification as a SAGES FLS /FES proctor.

* May be asked to prepare simulation documentation or assist with scheduling courses using scheduling software.

* Performs other duties as assigned
