This is a/an 83% full-time equivalency (FTE) job with months off. The number of months off will be determined by the position's FTE percentage. The timing of months off will be set to meet the needs of the unit and the essential duties of the position. The salary grade and range listed in the posting is reflective of a 100% Full-time position. POSITION SPECIFICS

Position Introduction:

The Strickler Office of International Programs in the Smeal College of Business promotes and facilitates student international education within the college.Through personalized student advising on study abroad opportunities, international internships, and the International Business minor, this International Programs advising position fortifies our missionto empower students to integrate real-world international experiences into their academic goalsand upholds the College's missionto prepare ethical, innovative, and globally minded business leaders.

As an International Program Coordinator for the Smeal College of Business, this position collaborates with the Penn State Global Education Abroad office and colleagues from other colleges; maintains relationships and meets with counterparts from foreign universities and study abroad providers; and assists the Associate Dean to achieve the strategic goals of internationalization in the Smeal College of Business.

This position requires

  • Experience in higher education in the field of academic advising and/or international education.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Master's degree in related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Penn State's IT environment including LionPATH, Starfish, Terra Dotta, and Excel is advantageous.

Work Schedule:

This is an HR-105 83.3% FTE, 10-month position with working dates from mid-August through mid-June (this position will have the summer months off). This position is currently operating 2 days remotely, 3 days in-person at University Park (subject to change, must be available for fully in-person work). Questions related to flexible work arrangements should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process. Occasional evening and weekend hours are required.

Position Description:

The International Programs Coordinator is primarily responsible for undergraduate student advising and includes some program management and associated administrative duties. Student advising focuses on assisting Smeal and Smeal-bound business students with study abroad program information, site selection, degree progress for courses abroad, as well as academic advising for the International Business (IB) Minor. This position is also responsible for marketing and promotion of study abroad and the IB Minor. Additional administrative duties include reviewing applications, maintaining records and statistics, compiling reports and relevant documentation for international programs within Smeal as needed.

  • Advise outgoing students on program selection, cost, courses, and scholarships
  • Advise on academic progress abroad and degree requirements for the IB Minor
  • Review Penn State Global study abroad applications in Terra Dotta
  • Coordinate and facilitate pre- and post-departure academic planning and degree progress for study abroad students
  • Prepare and deliver student information sessions, staff event tables, and initiate outreach
  • Develop promotional materials such as brochures, email announcements, graphics, and social media posts
  • Maintain website, policies, program, and event information as well as academic planning materials
  • Collaborate with the Smeal Office of Undergraduate Education academic advisers and records office on student academic standing and degree progress
  • Collaborate with Penn State Global to resolve issues with students and partner institutions
  • Address parents and families of study abroad students via individual inquiries and University events.
  • May hiring, development, and performance management of staff members.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $46,400.00 - $67,300.00.
