Job summary:

We're looking for teammates who share our passion for creating equitable access to nutritious food and addressing the root causes and impact of hunger. The Special Events Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing internal and external high-impact events that advance the Harvesters' mission, engage stakeholders, and generate revenue. This role works closely with the development team, volunteers, vendors, and community partners to deliver memorable experiences that inspire support and deepen relationships.

Other aspects of the job:

This position functions in an office environment and requires local travel in the service area. It requires the use of general office equipment such as computers, copiers, and automobiles. This position meets the requirements and may be considered hybrid eligible.

Qualifications:

  1. Required Experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years fund development and/or event planning experience.
  • Ability to take initiative, collaborate, meet deadlines and follow through in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organization, presentation and networking skills.
  • Digital literacy with experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Office.

2. Preferred Experience

  • Documented success in fundraising, event planning or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Kansas City's philanthropic community.
  • Experience with non-profit fundraising software, Raiser's Edge experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of food banking industry.

3. Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent field or related experience.

4. Preferred Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in marketing, non-profit management or related field
