Job Description:

As an Associate Product Consultant at Southwest Airlines, you'll collaborate across departments to support the strategy, development, and performance of our air-related products-bringing strong analytical and data expertise to drive decisions and elevate results. You'll contribute to key capabilities like boarding and seat map functionality, helping shape the Customer Experience and operational efficiency. It's an especially exciting time to join this Team, as we expand our product portfolio and launch new offerings over the next 1-2 years. This gives you the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on how Southwest delivers value to our Customers.

Responsibilities
  • Product strategy: support the establishment of the vision, strategy, and goals for the air products portfolio
  • Product design: influence decision making with analytical insights
  • Product management: execute product management strategies and advise partners to ensure cohesive execution; this includes merchandising, go-to-market, pricing, financial performance, customer experience, and operational execution
  • Seat map management: support seat map and boarding capabilities as subject matter expert in the model
  • Analytic support: analyze business trends using advanced analytical techniques; use data analysis and business acumen to translate insights into opportunities for enhancements and needs
  • Performance management: track defined performance KPIs, communicate holistic performance trends, and advise on actions to improve performance
  • Problem solving: structure and execute against ad hoc performance questions to diagnose performance trends
  • Data infrastructure: use knowledge of data sources and structure to support questions and decisions across the product lifecycle
  • Reporting: propose and create innovative tools, dashboards and reports to proactively monitor and identify performance opportunities; automate exports efficiently when possible
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of product development, project and/or product management
  • Skilled in collecting, organizing, visualizing, and assimilating data, including turning raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented tools and visualization software
  • Skilled in communication by listening intently, questioning appropriately, and articulating clearly in both written and verbal formats
  • Skilled in analytics and problem solving, with focus on KPI and performance management
  • Experienced in Microsoft Excel and Power Point (building, formatting, presenting, etc.
  • Knowledge of using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Ability to communicate in a flexible and effective manner, excellent presentation skills, including the ability to communicate complex issues in a structured, concise manner that drives action
  • Ability to influence Senior Leadership by telling a compelling and relevant story that conveys well thought-out recommendations, explains complex concepts in a straightforward manner with actionable data-driven recommendations

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED

Experience

  • Intermediate level experience, fully functioning broad knowledge in:

    • Travel industry product evolution

    • Product and financial performance

    • Data analytics and visualization

    • Presenting and communicating analysis

    • SQL and data tools

Licensing/Certification

Physical Abilities

  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space workstation/desk/office area] for extended periods of time

  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job

  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Other Qualifications

  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $78,850 - $87,600* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
