What you will do Johnson Controls is developing the next generation of smart and connected. Through a full range of systems and digital solutions, we make buildings smarter. A smarter building is safer, more comfortable, more efficient, and, ultimately, more sustainable. As a Mechanical Project Engineer you will be a member of our custom product development team. In this role, you will have an influence on the conceptual development, mathematical analysis, detailed design, and overall performance of sophisticated refrigeration products and systems. Also as needed provide support to the salesforce, factory production, laboratory, service, applications, and marketing teams located globally. This position is onsite at our Waynesboro, PA, and candidates must be commuting distance to the office, or able to relocate. How you will do it
Uses standard and sophisticated technical and mathematical principles, theories, concepts, techniques, processes, and standard methodologies in field. Continuously researches equipment operation, materials, industrial processes, and manufacturing equipment. Investigate and analyze product design requirements and cost for recommendations and optimum solutions. Track and control product cost, and warranty expenses. Perform calculations and publish performance data Work to established schedules to meet internal and external delivery engineering documents. Responsible for the on-time completion of projects. Proficient in mechanical design and be able to conceptualize and implement design ideas into the product. Utilizing mechanical engineering theory and methodologies such as heat transfer, fluid dynamics, failure analysis and refrigeration. Develop mathematical calculations and formulas using multiple variables, and analyze results. Establishes test criteria, participates in laboratory testing, and analyzes test data to identify chiller performance characteristics. Works closely with the design and drafting group in generating product layout concepts and system configurations. Continuously increases expertise on all aspects of product design, theory, construction, operation, and applications. Learns and applies regulatory codes such as UL, ASME, and API. Strives for continuous improvement and teamwork in a global product development and process environment.
What we look for Required
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET accredited) Proficiency in Microsoft suite Applications (Work, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) as well as AutoCAD/AutoDesk Inventor or other 3D design software
