Summary

The primary function of this position is to troubleshoot, repair, recondition, rebuild, and test hydraulic components with a strong emphasis on pumps, motors, and valves for Caterpillar and other OEM equipment.

Essential Functions

  • Promptly review work schedule, check equipment and supplies, and prepare for operations.
  • Disassemble and inspect hydraulic pumps, motors, and valves using precision measuring tools and OEM specifications.
  • Verify findings and develop repair plans based on measurements and Caterpillar reusability guidelines.
  • Order or obtain appropriate parts for repairs.
  • Prepare parts for reassembly through polishing, honing, buffing, and cleaning.
  • Reassemble and test hydraulic components, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Document service reports accurately within company systems.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Secure all equipment and complete required paperwork at the end of shift.
  • Perform hydraulic performance testing and diagnostics.
  • Analyze failure modes of pumps and motors.
  • Interpret pressure, flow, and efficiency data.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems and component functionality. Ability to interpret technical manuals and specifications. Proficiency in precision measuring and troubleshooting techniques. Basic computer skills for Caterpillar SIS 2.0 and company systems.

Computer Skills

Basic computer skills to utilize Caterpillar SIS 2.0 (Parts and technical information) and company-related systems

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in

written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The employee may occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in some work environments is occasionally loud.
