We're looking for a Legal Recruiting Specialist to join our dynamic team in Philadelphia and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Firm. In this high-impact position, you'll drive firmwide initiatives that attract, onboard, integrate, and develop top-tier summer interns and entry-level associates. You'll be the trusted point of contact for our junior lawyers ensuring they feel welcomed, supported, and set up for long-term success. You'll also lend your expertise to lateral attorney recruiting when needed.

Reporting to the Director of Legal Recruiting and collaborating closely with the Attorney Career Advancement Team, you'll help deliver a smooth, engaging, and memorable experience for every lawyer who joins our Firm. This is a hybrid role based in our Philadelphia office. The role currently requires in-office work Tuesday-Thursday with additional days in the office required as needed.

Your Role:

As a Legal Recruiting Specialist within our Attorney Career Advancement Department your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting recruitment by managing job postings, drafting correspondence, and coordinating all stages of the recruitment process, including candidate outreach, interview scheduling, and preparation of interview materials.

  • Ensuring Ballard lawyers have the information they need to conduct interviews and make timely, informed hiring recommendations.

  • Representing the Firm positively to law schools and candidates, highlighting Ballard as an attractive place to practice law, and building and maintaining strong relationships with law schools to develop a pipeline of top talent.

  • Overseeing onboarding and integration of summer interns and entry-level associates-socially, administratively, and professionally-in partnership with Directors of Office Administration and other stakeholders.

  • Developing and implementing orientation programs in collaboration with internal teams and coordinating schedules and communications across the Firm.

  • Supporting mentoring programs for new hires, conducting regular check-ins, and collecting feedback to assess the effectiveness of recruiting, integration, and training initiatives.

  • Responding to candidate inquiries promptly and professionally or ensuring the appropriate team member is doing so.

  • Participating in strategic planning to adapt recruitment and training programs as the Firm's needs evolve.

Required Experience:

A bachelor's degree is required, along with a minimum of two years of relevant experience; prior experience in recruiting and professional development within a law firm is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, technically proficient, and an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing. Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset are essential for building and maintaining productive relationships with candidates, internal and external presenters, Ballard Spahr lawyers, and business professionals across the Firm and within the Attorney Career Advancement Department.
