INTRAMURAL SPORTS SUPERVISOR

Position Summary

An Intramural Sport Supervisor is responsible for site supervision and staff management during intramural competitions. They will coordinate and administer intramural activities on a nightly basis, ensure the completion of daily forms, mediate disputes, oversee intramural officials and score keepers, administer first and CPR if necessary, and ensure a safe environment for participants.

Responsibilities

* Oversee the activities and staffing for intramural competitions.

* Ensure proper set-up of field and equipment.

* Enforce policies and rules of game site and facility.

* Ensure all staff members are present and prepared; contact staff who have not yet reported or are late to work.

* Provide feedback to officials and supervisors based on observations and evaluations.

* Keep space free of debris, clothing, sporting equipment, and spectators, ensuring a safe playing environment.

* Observe games and maintain control of spectators and participants on the sideline.

* Monitor sportsmanship and conduct of patrons.

* Assist in mediating conflicts and officiating/rule protests, intervening when necessary.

* Oversee successful transition and timeliness of all games and/or staff

* Observe potential weather-related issues and activate the Emergency Action Plan when necessary.

* Administer immediate first aid and CPR when an injury occurs.

* Ensure the completion of and submit daily forms.

* Equipment break-down and proper storage, following the conclusion of event.

* Ensure all equipment is returned in good condition, reporting any issues immediately.

* Maintain Intramural Sports storage space at all facilities; ensure items stored, secured and area clean

* Proper clean up and storage of lost & found items

* Dispose of trash and debris left on site.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

* In attendance for all mandatory meetings and clinics.

* Punctual and professional attitude and appearance at all times.

* Must be available to work evening and weekend hours, at a minimum of 2 nights per week

* Must be willing and able to work for both Fall and Spring semesters within an academic year

* A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in officiating and/or working within any aspect of an Intramural Sports Program

* Leadership experience and knowledge within a particular sport offered by the Intramural Program

* Effective communication and interpersonal skills

* In good standing with regard to the employee performance policy

* CPRO with AED and First Aid certified

* Able to demonstrate a strong working knowledge and understanding of Intramural Sport policies and procedures.



Minimum Qualifications
Education

Work requires the ability to provide recreational assistance generally equivalent to a partial high school education.

Anticipated Pay Range:

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $18.00.
