Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional teams responsible for execution of programs in accordance with professional project management methods, Gates program management policy, and industry advanced product quality planning (APQP) requirements. Accountability for monitoring, recovering any deviation(s) and ultimately achieving project key performance indicators (KPIs) approved at project baseline. Along with team leadership, the candidate takes responsibility of program success.
- Manage and resolve conflicts within the various functions to find solutions satisfying Gates requirements and customer expectations. Deploys integrated, cross-functional project management approach and develops strategy for recovery when necessary to ensure project deliverables support the interests of all project stake holders [internal and external]. Represent the project management organization (PMO) on customer facing teams and ensures changes to the approved project baseline are reviewed and approved by the responsible stake holders prior to acceptance by Gates.
- Make appropriate escalation(s) within the organization and when necessary, at the supply base to ensure management attention on critical project / program matters. Make decisions on behalf of PMO Director at key milestones review or internal / external steering meetings together with other functional leaders.
- Manage and mitigate risk effectively for the portfolio of projects / programs assigned. Provide reports to management on the status of the project / portfolio and functional as single point of contact towards higher management for all matters within the assigned project / program portfolio.
Keys to Success
- Responsibility for managing and leading multiple, complex projects and ensuring project deliverables are achieved on time and within budget contributing towards achieving the organizational goals. Typical to simultaneously manage 3-6 complex programs each having >$3M in revenue.
- Cross-functional and cross-regional management expertise.
- Achieve program KPIs and drive initiatives to assist achievement of departmental goals.
- Timely and accurate communication of program data / status / decisions. Ensure on time project / milestone reviews and sign offs for assigned set of projects / programs.
- Drive program risk analysis followed by prioritization and escalation of activities related to assigned projects / programs to ensure achievement of project and program goals.
- Program information, data management including regular portfolio reporting to PMO director
- Drive continuous improvement of the Project Management process and tools.
Quality Related Functions and Responsibilities: Adhere to GPMS, IATF 16949, ISO 9001, HSE policy, VDA 6, GPS and any other industry standards.
Reporting/Scope
This position reports directly to the regional PMO director. Functions as a leader to cross-functional project team members inclusive of professionals and at times, managers from multiple disciplines. Typical for 5 team members minimum per program. Contacts: Internal = All functions and operational departments; External = customers and suppliers Other: Occasional travel, flexible working time required (managing teams located in multiple time zones is typical/expected)
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience in industry.
- Industrial or Mechanical Engineering Bachelor's Degree is must.
- Proven leadership skills as project manager for complex projects over at least 5 years
- Demonstrated success in launching Tier 1 products at major automotive OEM's
- Demonstrated abilities in setting team priorities and allocating resources as necessary to achieve success.
- Deep and broad knowledge of mechanical assemblies and associated manufacturing techniques spanning those at the supply base and to internal final assembly and machining processes.
- Familiarity with casting, injection molding, sintering, and machining processes typical to the industry
- Master's Degree and Professional Program Management (PMP) certification is desirable

- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Suite with emphasis in project management tools like Microsoft Project and Clarizen

- Full-Time, annual salary between $135,800 - $150,000
