Communications Coordinator

As a Communications Coordinator at Garney in Kansas City, MO, you will help execute traditional and digital communication strategies that position Garney as an industry leader. Garney is seeking a self-motivated Internal Communications Coordinator to join our Marketing & Communications team. In this role, you'll play a vital part in shaping how information flows across the company-creating meaningful content, driving engagement, and strengthening the employee experience. You'll partner with executive leadership, regional champions, and teams nationwide to ensure messages are clear, consistent, and impactful. • Create and maintain content for our company intranet/mobile app, GarneyOne, which serves as a central hub for information, updates, and tools necessary for daily operations.
• Assist in planning and executing internal communication strategies and initiatives that enhance employee engagement and promote open communication.
• Lead internal communication projects through coordination, brainstorming, message development, writing, editing, and execution.
• Collaborate with executive leadership, regional champions, and departments across Garney to support consistent and effective communication across the organization.
• Focus on employee feedback and new hire communications tactics, including developing plans for consistent feedback and improving the onboarding experience.

Must-Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field.
• Strong writing and editing skills with sharp attention to detail.
• Clear and confident communicator who values transparency.
• Organized, proactive, and able to juggle multiple projects.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).

Preferred

• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat).
• 1-2 years of communications experience (internships or entry-level considered).
• Familiarity with the A/E/C industry.
• Spanish language proficiency a plus
