This position is not eligible for Visa Sponsorship. As a Production Supervisor, you are responsible for the day-to-day coordination of production activities and performance in your assigned area. Your role spans financial performance, employee safety, and team development. You lead and manage a shift of 20-60 employees, taking an active role in hiring, onboarding, performance management, and corrective actions. You collaborate with other groups on-site and across NUSA to ensure your team and area are fully aligned with organizational goals. You also help shape a workplace culture that engages and motivates associates at all levels. Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing production floor.
- Ensure that production targets and deadlines are met, while maintaining high quality standards.
- Coordinate and schedule production activities, including assigning tasks to production workers and monitoring progress.
- Monitor and analyze production metrics, such as output, efficiency, and scrap rates, to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering, procurement, and quality assurance, to ensure smooth production processes and resolve any issues that may arise.
- Train and develop production staff, providing guidance and support to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all production employees.
- Maintain and update production records, including production reports, inventory levels, and equipment maintenance logs.
- Identify and implement process improvements and cost-saving initiatives to optimize production efficiency and reduce waste.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in manufacturing technology and make recommendations for equipment upgrades or process changes as needed.
Key Outputs / Deliverables
- Ensure the timely deployment of people development plan and assure the competencies of his/her team as per the agreed plan. Enforce strict compliance to standard operating procedures (SOPs) by all personnel within the team. (10%)
- Ensure a safe work environment is maintained at all times. Updated work instructions available for all positions. Processes are run in accordance with SOP's, SSOP's and other documentation. Activities being performed having an environmental impact are communicated and accomplished according to the environmental management. (15%)
- Ensure quality objectives are met including regular adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), performance of sanitation audits, food safety checks, and product quality checks conducted according to policies. Actively participate in prevention and correction of quality-related errors. Check and enforce personnel hygiene & safety e.g. protective clothing (uniform), shoe change & hand wash. (15%)
- Ongoing coaching of employees to fulfill and exceed the requirements of the job. Daily review of achievement of safety, quality, cost and performance targets and report variances during on-the-floor and review meetings. Ensure the development and implementation of action plans to address root causes of failures and support continuous improvement initiatives. Facilitate seamless handoffs and communicate key information to peers, team members and Production Management. (10%)
- Ensure continuous line controls and immediate corrective action to assure prescribed quality and to ensure compliance with manufacturing instructions, internal and external regulations, procedures & policies. (15%)
- Ensure ongoing smooth operations of factory through effective employee engagement during key meeting and daily activities. (15%)
- Ensure that there is an adequate distribution of skills to enable production plan to be achieved effectively. (10%)
- Ensure timely launch of new products to the Market as per the agreed upon strategy, adhering to all Nestle and regulatory requirements (5%)
- Support the maintenance planning and execution of activities to maximize efficiency and equipment performance. (5%)
Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing or a related field is preferred.
- 5+ years' leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Proven track record of successfully managing a production team and meeting production targets.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment and quality control standards
- Excellent communication skills (oral, written and listening). Ability to adjust communication style to multiple audiences, facilitate group coaching, and information sharing.
- Ability to positively confront and effectively deal with non-compliance through effective "soft skills".
- Experience in developing and implementing production schedules and ensuring on-time delivery of products
- Experience in food processing or packaging
- Experience in Quality and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP's) in a food processing environment.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to work extended days and/or weekends with flexibility to switch shifts as needed
- Willing to work in a factory where ambient conditions may vary.
