GENERAL FUNCTION:

Drive effective implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework across the Commercial line of business by partnering with the lines of defense to ensure that enterprise risk management programs are implemented in a manner that is consistent with the Bank's Risk Management Framework focused on Operational Risk and adds value to the business/function in managing their risks.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate deep understanding of operational risk program elements (e.g., RCSA, BCRA, KRI), including methodology, governance, standards, procedures, and templates.
  • Provide guidance and training to business units on the effective application of ERM principles and program requirements.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of risk management procedures aligned with program standards.
  • Engage with first and second lines of defense to provide independent oversight and credible challenge on risk assessments, tolerance decisions, and BCRA requirements.
  • Review and challenge impact assessments and risk ratings related to regulatory changes.
  • Oversee and challenge operational loss root cause analyses, action plans, and loss event aggregation and reporting.
  • Validate identified risks and controls, escalating gaps and inconsistencies as needed.
  • Guide line managers in identifying and monitoring key risk indicators (KRIs) that signal emerging or material risks.
  • Coordinate the development of risk dashboards that integrate enterprise-level KRIs with insights from top and emerging risks.
  • Manage annual process prioritization for applicable risk programs to evaluate inherent risk rating accuracy and update leadership on changes impacting operational risk appetite.
  • Participate in or lead program councils (e.g., BCRA Council) to drive consistency and alignment across risk programs.
  • Collaborate with second line risk category experts to ensure linkage between program elements and RCSA/risk inventory.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of line of business procedures and provide advisory support for new processes.
  • Conduct independent point of view assessments of products, processes, or systems and elevate conclusions and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Monitor operational trends and review escalated items for assigned areas.
  • Clearly document oversight activities, challenges, and points of view for senior leadership.
  • Ensure consistent usage and output of Enterprise Risk Management program activities in accordance with policy, standards, and procedures.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for providing employees timely, candid and constructive performance feedback; developing employees to their fullest potential and provide challenging opportunities that enhance employee career growth; developing the appropriate talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning; recognizing and rewarding employees for accomplishments.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of experience, preferably in risk management.
  • Previous management experience preferred.
  • Position requires broad knowledge of banking products, services and operations, and Ability to identify risks.
  • A clear understanding of the Bank's approach to the management of operational risk, or equivalent experience gained in other organizations.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of operational risk functions for targeted Lines of business. understanding of the core elements of an effective risk management Program including RCSA (risk control Self-Assessment) and Key risk Indicators and Key Control indicators desired.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels of management.
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity, Ability to identify risks and Ability to apply broadly and drive conceptual framework to tactics.
  • -Must be analytical and possess the ability to interpret and apply policies and regulations across a complex business (es).
  • Must be results and goal oriented, Possess sound judgment and Ability to apply logical/critical thought processes when approaching work or making recommendations for solutions.
  • Ability to work within a team environment and maintain Professional composure in a dynamic work environment that requires multiple demands, shifting priorities, and rapid change.
  • Must be able to maintain independence and objectivity in all aspects of position.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Demonstrated Ability to learn applications and internal banking systems.
