Systems Analyst I

Position Summary:
The Systems Analyst I is responsible for managing customer requirements from inception through delivery. Acting as a liaison between customers and the development team, this role ensures requirements are clearly defined, documented, and met throughout the software development life cycle. The Systems Analyst I works closely with developers, quality specialists, and other team members to support successful product delivery while keeping pace with evolving technology and business goals.

What You'll Do:
* Serve as the point of contact with customers, government, or industry representatives throughout project duration
* Analyze user needs, workflows, and problem areas to define clear requirements
* Translate documentation, business logic, and system capabilities into design, implementation, and maintenance requirements
* Create software requirements specifications, use cases, and user stories
* Participate in backlog refinement, defect reviews, and release planning sessions
* Conduct and review requirements and design sessions
* Ensure accuracy and compliance of new or modified software with requirements
* Develop and maintain end-user support or training documentation
* Contribute to SDLC process improvements and collaborate with project team members through all phases
* Support customer demos and presentations as needed

What You Bring:
* Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, computer engineering, electronics engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience preferred
* 0-2 years of analytical experience with exposure to the full software development life cycle
* 1-2 years of experience in one or more technology areas: databases (SQL Server, Oracle), programming (.NET, Java), markup languages (XML, HTML, SGML), GUI development, or publishing tools preferred
* Familiarity with SDLC practices, Agile/SCRUM methodologies, and requirements documentation (use cases, design documents, test cases)
* Basic to intermediate skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, and requirements management tools (TFS or similar)
* Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
* Ability to explain technical requirements to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
* Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently and within a team

Work Environment:
* General office setting with extended computer and phone use
* May occasionally require overtime, weekends, or holidays to meet deadlines
* Infrequent travel by car or plane for customer meetings may be required

What You May Have Done in the Past:
* Worked as a business or systems analyst translating requirements into functional documentation
* Assisted with software development, testing, or deployment projects
* Supported Agile or SDLC practices in a project team environment
* Developed use cases, change requests, or technical documentation for enterprise software
