Job Description
The ELC Teacher's Assistant supports a classroom of approximately 20 students by implementing activities and maintaining a safe, clean classroom environment that meets or exceeds OCC regulations. Duties include but are not limited to: Using classroom learning centers to implement activities with children; disinfecting toys: sweep floors, wipe tables, chairs, shelves and cubbies and clean common areas a needed; supervise children throughout the classroom environment and encourage positive behaviors, identify potential classroom hazards, resolve conflicts: adhere to MSDE regulations and HCC policies; Minimum of six (6) hours of job related CEUs completed annually; perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Applicants must possess the ability to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 lbs; be able to participate in physical fitness activities including walking, running, jumping, dancing, and organized games; be able to stand for at least 45 minutes in both cold and hot weather extremes; be able to complete annual continuing education units as specified by the MSDE.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

Required Education
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Required Experience
One year of experience working with preschool children or equivalent technical training, education, and/or experience. Complete physical examination with a negative TB test required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and complete a physical examination with a negative TB test; and be able to complete annual continuing education units as specified by the MSDE.

Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 lbs.; participate in physical fitness activities including walking, running, jumping, dancing as well as organized games; and to stand for at least 45 minutes in both cold and hot weather extremes.
