You must reside within a two-hour driving distance to our Columbus, Ohio office for in-person work as needed for meetings and projects. Top candidates will have 5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS DevOps, Jenkins Job DSL, GitLab Pipelines, and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker). They will have played a key role on enterprise-level DevOps teams, not only driving implementation and delivery but also defining and enforcing engineering standards across product teams. Proficiency in Azure is highly desirable, including the ability to map and translate technical concepts between AWS and Azure platforms. Candidates must demonstrate proven expertise in infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation), CI/CD pipeline optimization, effective cross-team collaboration, and experience with AWS monitoring tools, security best practices, and scripting for automation. The DevOps III Engineer identifies opportunities, provides detailed story design, and implements solutions to improve software delivery through automation. This position identifies tech debt and risks and provides solution approach. The DevOps III Engineer is continually evolving their skills and staying current on DevOps tools, software delivery automation, best practices, and has a broad knowledge across the technology stack. Essential Functions:
- Resolve complex issues across the DevOps and Release Management stack, collaborating with team members to ensure swift recovery and minimize downtime.
- Design and Implement Cloud Infrastructure Solutions
- Contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure on AWS.
- Support the adoption of containerization solutions using tools like Docker and Kubernetes for application scalability and portability.
- Develop and deploy infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CDK.
- Follow established best practices for deploying infrastructure using infrastructure as code (IaC).
- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and efficient resource management.
- Automate Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) Pipelines
- Develop and maintain efficient CI/CD pipelines for seamless application deployment across environments.
- Integrate GitLab, Nexus, Jenkins, Wiz, or similar tools for automation of the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Optimize pipeline performance and reduce manual interventions to achieve faster and more reliable releases.
- Performance Monitoring and Optimization
- Implement cloud monitoring and alerting solutions using AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and third-party monitoring tools.
- Analyze system performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize resource allocation for cost and efficiency.
- Apply best practices for performance tuning in cloud environments.
Other Functions:
- Contribute to proof-of-concept initiatives, exploring and validating new technologies and methodologies to drive operational efficiency and innovation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine development processes, incorporating feedback and insights to drive continuous improvement.
- Support the execution of the DevOps roadmap and participate in the development of innovative solutions aligned with team objectives.
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development to stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
- Provide after-hours support as scheduled and/or as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Information Systems preferred; however, candidates with equivalent knowledge and experience will also be considered.
- 5+ years of Information Technology experience, including DevOps or Release Management; or an equivalent combination of education, knowledge, and experience.
- Expertise in source code branching strategies, continuous integration, software development lifecycles, DevOps and release management best practices.
- Proficiency in languages like Groovy, Python, Bash, PowerShell, and TypeScript.
- Expertise in cloud technologies (e.g., AWS), containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI), infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform), and process automation.
- Experience supporting and enhancing CI/CD pipelines and scalable containerized applications.
- Strong analytical and diagnostic skills, with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Logical thinking in making decisions, completing work tasks, and solving problems.
- Able to translate low-level engineering concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Excellent customer service skills, including active listening, conflict resolution, decision-making, and negotiation.
- Highly adaptable and eager to learn.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
