This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
We are seeking an experienced Manager of Manufacturing Engineering to lead a team dedicated to advancing human spaceflight through innovative manufacturing solutions. In this key role, you will oversee the development and implementation of manufacturing processes-including design for manufacturability, work instruction creation, tooling procurement support, process planning, and configuration of efficient work cells. You will work collaboratively within integrated product teams, partnering closely with design, quality, tooling, facilities, logistics, operations, and project management functions to deliver high-quality hardware on aggressive timelines. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical acumen, skilled in driving continuous improvement in a dynamic environment.
Position Specific Details:
Shift: A | Mon-Fri (6am-2:30pm) Location: Space Coast, FL Relocation: Available Potential travel up to 10% of the time for training and other support activities.
Lead, mentor and manage a team of engineers responsible for production of the Lunar vehicle and subcomponents. Build a team of top talent manufacturing engineers, enabling a transformational and flexible organization to take on challenges as they arise. Lead the team through design development within the Lunar IPTs, Build & Flow, process, and manufacturing development needs. Aid the Operations Leadership team in facilitating effective decision-making on complicated scenarios that will have a significant major effect on the vehicle. Provide effective, efficient, focused, and adaptive decision-making in a high-velocity, intense aerospace environment. Lead the development of fabrication specifications, acceptance & test plans, maintenance plans, and Statements of Work Support requirements generation within the IPT, along with establishing and supporting Interface Control Models (ICMs). Support design trades with the IPTs to enable efficient design for manufacturing and operations. Responsible for Identifying and developing critical manufacturing processes & steps required for the assembly, integration, and testing of the Lunar Transporter.

Lunar Mission Operations plays a crucial role in the successful deployment and operation of the MK2 vehicle. As a key component of our mission, Lunar Ops ensures that the MK2 vehicle is not only developed and assembled to the highest standards but also thoroughly tested and prepared for its lunar journey. This division collaborates closely with engineering, quality assurance, and logistics teams to guarantee that the MK2 vehicle meets all mission requirements and performs flawlessly in the challenging lunar environment. Their expertise and dedication are instrumental in making the MK2 vehicle a pioneering success and a cornerstone for future lunar exploration initiatives.
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university 6+ years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering role 3+ years of experience creating English work instructions Must be able to work second shift and have flexibility to move shifts as needed. Open to work extended hours if required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in a relevant engineering field (preferred). Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) experience. Familiarity with quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001). 4+ years' experience leading projects and/or teams in aerospace, high-reliability, or advanced manufacturing, particularly in support of engineering and production teams within human-rated aerospace vehicle programs and hazardous operations. Demonstrated leadership and relationship-building skills that drive team performance and deliver results. Proven record of technical breadth across multiple hardware domains, including system assembly, bonding/adhesive and fastener application, machining and composite fabrication, and integration of electrical/mechanical components. Experience spanning multiple stages of the product lifecycle for spacecraft, launch vehicles, or high-performance aircraft, including New Product Introduction (NPI), design-to-rate production, and product transition. Hands-on assembly, integration, and troubleshooting experience in aerospace applications, with a strong foundation in fabrication processes (machining, welding, composites, mechanical/electrical assembly). Demonstrated expertise in designing, building, and commissioning tooling and fixtures for manufacturing, assembly, and testing processes. Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing, including practical application of GD&T, DFM/DFA, tolerance stack-up, and manufacturing process development. Proficiency with PLM/MRP systems (Teamcenter, Windchill, etc.), Bill of Materials (BOM) management, and product structure reconciliation. Experience with manufacturing automation, digital work instructions, and advanced metrology (CMM, laser scanning). Demonstrated experience supporting requirements generation and establishing/maintaining Interface Control Models (ICMs) within Integrated Product Teams (IPTs). Proficiency with MS Office Suite, MS Project, MS Visio, Jira, Confluence, and strong organizational and analytical skills. In-depth understanding of project management methodologies and cross-functional collaboration, with strong verbal and written communication skills for teams, customers, and suppliers across diverse locations.
