About the Job

The Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science in the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota seeks to hire an adjunct assistant professor (9403A) to provide recitation support for MATS 3011: Introduction to Materials Science, a 3-credit course.

Successful candidates will be expected to teach one undergraduate course in the fall semester, hold office hours, and advise students. In addition, the adjunct faculty member should continue personal growth within the profession, keep current within the field, and broaden his/her/their knowledge and expertise of materials science and engineering concepts. The appointment may be renewable for an additional term or terms based on need, funding, and performance.

The duties associated with this position are: teach one undergraduate course (40%), hold office hours (25%), and advise students (25%), and assess student work (10%)

Qualifications

Required qualifications:
Ph.D. in materials science and engineering or a closely related field and previous teaching experience at a college or university.

Preferred qualifications:
Demonstrated excellence in teaching as a graduate student; professional/industrial experience in materials science and engineering or closely related field.

Pay and Benefits

Fixed Pay Rate: $7,200 per semester
