The Job

Omnitrans,provider of public mass transit for the San Bernardino Valley in Southern California is seeking a highly skilled professional to join our award-winning team. The ideal Candidate hired will be under general direction, performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of the Agency's passenger amenities.

Examples of Duties

The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to this position:

  • Installs or removes bus shelters, benches, signs and poles; provides general maintenance and upkeep of these facilities.
  • Makes minor repairs on electrical systems; installs lights in shelter.
  • Uses a variety of hand tools and power equipment as required.
  • Removes graffiti from bus stop shelters and benches.
  • Steam cleans and pressure washes bus stop shelters and benches.
  • Prepares necessary reports and records.
  • Picks up debris in vicinity of amenities.
  • Installs/Replaces bus route and promotional information at bus stops.
  • Installs Marketing promotional material on buses.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

The Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Requires high school diploma or equivalent. One year experience in facility or grounds maintenance or construction.
GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF:
  • Materials, tools and methods used in general building repair, maintenance, and construction.
  • Safe working practices relating to all assigned job duties.
ABILITY TO:
  • Perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance work.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Perform basic arithmetical calculations.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Perform basic computer functions--email, Word, Excel.
  • Read and understand policies, procedures and Agency regulations.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Class C California Motor Vehicle Operator's license.
  • Regularly lift up to 100 pounds.

The Selection Process

Candidates will be screened for relevant qualifying experience that consists of an evaluation of education and experience. The most competitively qualified candidateswill be invited to participate in the selection process. The selection process may include a combination of written, performance, and oral examinations. All employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical exam, including a drug test, and a criminal background investigation, which will include Live Scan fingerprinting.
