Job Summary

The Operations Manager II supports the director of MPS Department of Nutrition Services with the daily operations for a multi-disciplinary, urban school nutrition department serving meals at all MPS school locations (150+ schools) to approximately 70,000 students. Primary responsibilities include oversight of assigned activities and supporting the director MPS Department of Nutrition Services with overall department operations when needed.

The salary range is $103,017 148,687 (12 months/260 days)

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required from an accredited college or university in Operations, Business, Nutrition, Education, Technology or related field.
  • Experience in urban school food service a plus, but not required.
  • Registered Dietician certification as plus, but not required.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of progressive leadership, including five (5) years management experience in a large-scale organization ($10+ million).
  • Project Management experience including leading and directing from development to implementation.
  • Knowledge of matters related to local and state government is preferred.

Equivalent combinations of training, education and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises assigned direct reports and, when needed, supervises kitchen staff through guidance, training and evaluation. Develops, empowers and leads people.
  • Manages all aspects of non-USDA Program activities including catering, data analytics, donations, and nutrition educational activities.
  • Participates in the development of the work plan for assigned areas including short and long-range planning, assigns work activities, projects and programs; monitors work flow; reviews and evaluates work products, methods and procedures. Supports the day-to-day functions of the Department of Nutrition Services school operations which may include communications & marketing, grants management, human resource management, technology development, kitchen management, purchasing functions and office management.
  • Assists with the hiring and professional development of Department of Nutrition Services staff .
  • Actively participates in establishing the operating procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the departments operating functions, including identifying solutions to automate current manual processes.
  • Provides assistance with the development and management of Nutritions $50+ million budget.
  • Serves as an advisor to the Director of Nutrition Services and performs the role of the Director in the Directors absence.
  • Actively participates in the development and implementation of Departments strategic plan, including quality enhancements of services.
  • Actively supports the MPS Five Priorities for Success.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
