  • Plans, organizes, schedules and conducts inspections of facilities, work areas and equipment. Monitors site conditions, practices and procedures for compliance with health and safety requirements, standards and regulations. Selects and implements corrective action(s) and follows up to ensure proper action has been taken. These tasks are necessary to maintain a healthy and productive workforce thereby enabling EnergySolutions to reach its performance goals and stay competitive in the marketplace.
  • Performs testing of parameters to assess workplace hazards including, but not limited to, exposure to radiation, chemical and biological hazards and excessive noise.
  • Oversees the collection, packaging, testing, storing, transporting and/or disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials and/or waste.
  • Inspects areas to ensure the presence and operability of fire prevention and safety equipment and first-aid supplies.
  • Records data and compiles it in statistical analyses and reports.
  • Reviews records and reports concerning laboratory results, staffing, floor plans, fire inspections and sanitation in order to gather information for the development and enforcement of safety activities.
  • Operates, maintains, certifies, inspects, calibrates and oversees installation of safety equipment.
  • Verifies that safety equipment such as hearing protection and respirators is available to employees and monitors use of such equipment to ensure good working order.
  • Prepares and reviews specifications and orders for the purchase of safety equipment, ensuring proper features are present and items conform to health and safety standards.
  • Prepares and calibrates equipment used to collect and analyze samples.
  • Supplies, operates and maintains personal protective equipment.
  • Assists in the mitigation of hazardous material incidents as requested.
  • Reports employee safety issues related to stop work conditions.
  • Attends and participates in professional and committee meetings related to health and safety issues.
  • Maintains logbooks of daily activities, including areas visited and activities performed.
  • Maintains all required documentation and records.
  • There is no supervision of other workers at this level.
  • Responsible for the quality of his/her own work and satisfying customer (internal and external) specifications.
  • Must be able to work independently and resolve practical problems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
