Job Summary

The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking a Program Manager to join our team of professionals.

Duties include:

  • Manages and collaborates with department faculty and related research entities in Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM) to design and execute research studies in medical education and related areas.
  • Leads and conducts searches to identify relevant publications, conferences, and opportunities for scholarly dissemination.
  • Oversees and assists faculty in the dissemination of scholarship findings through conference presentations, publications, and other academic forums, as well as supervises manuscript preparation, including formatting, referencing, and submission to peer-reviewed journals.
  • Supervises data collection, analysis, and ensures accurate interpretation of health/education datasets, while supporting and guiding faculty in preparing grant applications related to medical education research in collaboration with statisticians and faculty.
  • Coordinates and manages relationships with funding agencies and research institutions to facilitate grant submissions for funding opportunities, while ensuring and monitoring compliance with application guidelines and deadlines.
  • Manages and maintains an up-to-date repository of all Department of Medical Education scholarly activities.
  • Fosters and develops collaborations with internal and external stakeholders, including other departments, institutions, and professional organizations.
  • Participates in research networks to exchange knowledge and best practices in medical education research.
  • Stay abreast of developments in medical education research methodologies, technologies, and trends.
  • Acts as the primary liaison and manages the Institutional Review Board (IRB) submission and approval process for medical education research submissions, ensuring adherence to regulatory protocols and facilitating communication between department faculty and the HWCOM research administration.
  • Responsible for organizing scholarly workgroups for faculty by scheduling meetings, coordinating agendas, and ensuring follow-up on pending action items to facilitate collaborative efforts and tracking progress.
  • Identifies and disseminates funding opportunities in medical education research to faculty within the Department of Medical Education, facilitating their pursuit of research funding and grant opportunities.
  • Leads the identification and implementation of opportunities for process improvement and innovation in scholarly work products within the department.
  • Performs other related duties as required. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
  • In collaboration with the Manager of Administrative Services, identifies and disseminates scholarships for conferences, presentations and other platforms that supports disseminating of scholarly work.
  • Prepares annual reports summarizing scholarly activities to inform the budgeting process.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate specialization and four (4) years of related experience, or Master's degree in an appropriate specialization and two (2) years related experience.



Departmental Requirements

Prior experience in conducting research, preferably in medical education or a related field.

Experience with research methodologies, data analysis techniques, and statistical software.

Experience in grant writing and management preferred.



Desired Qualifications

Proficiency in accessing academic databases and supporting scholarship in academic medical education or related field.
