Description
Summary of Position/Purpose: The Controller utilizes business expertise and accounting acumen to set adequate financial controls, establish and monitor departmental and organizational budgets, and prepare financial statements that conform to regulations and industry practices. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing a team of 12 (including 7 direct reports) and will manage critical financial functions across the organization. This role also includes direct oversight of the Mexico Controller and requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and cross-border coordination. Essential Duties, Functions and/or Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of accounting professionals, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to corporate policies.
- Oversee the Mexico Controller, providing guidance, oversight for the Mexican operations and alignment with corporate standards.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Review and approve key reconciliations, including intercompany reconciliations, cash reconciliations, and other critical balance sheet accounts.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls, with responsibility for SOX compliance and audit readiness.
- Partner with the VP of Finance and other leaders to provide insights into financial performance and ensure alignment with business strategy.
- Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, and internal stakeholders to support audits and regulatory filings.
- Drive process improvements and automation to enhance reporting accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Indirectly responsible for product quality.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- BS/BA in accounting required. CPA or equivalent is strongly preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SOX requirements, and intercompany accounting.
- Experience managing multi-entity and cross-border operations (Mexico/International exposure a plus).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
- Very proficient in spreadsheets, databases, MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- and financial software applications.
- Experience in Infor and CloudSuite ERP products is a plus.
- Confidence in challenging the status quo; always on the lookout for continuous improvement opportunities.
- Outstanding presentation, reporting and communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Ability to travel occasionally throughout the year.
