Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for an RN Clinical Mentor to support the Women's Medical Surgical and Original (Medical Surgical) departments. This role is eligible for relocation assistance.

Clinical Mentor Job Responsibilities:



  • Develop expertise in training, coaching and mentoring staff through the promotion and delivery of high-quality nursing care.
  • Orient, educate and develop nursing staff to ensure competence and ability to fulfill specified responsibilities.
  • Provide support to novice and advanced nurses and preceptors to ensure a smooth transition into practice and the work environment.
  • Integrate knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the clinical and social adjustment needs of all team members.
  • Participate in the design, delivery and evaluation of educational programs to promote clinical development and career progression from novice to proficient nurse for new or existing clinicians.


Hours: full-time, M-F (regular office hours, with some flexibility as needed based on department needs)

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Education: Bachelors Degree in Nursing
  • Experience: 2 years of progressive experience in nursing in designated specialty; 3 months of experience serving as preceptor.
  • Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association; Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state RN License
