Position Overview




Essential Job Duties
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will serve as a member of the Office for Faculty Excellence ( OFE). The successful candidate, holding a Ed.D. or Ph.D. in an education or related field or in another field but has significant higher education experience. The candidate will demonstrate an interest in faculty development with a focus on teaching and learning, mentorship/advising, and community building. This position provides a distinctive opportunity to contribute significantly to the advancement and success of faculty and students at NC State. This is also an opportunity to build skills in the field of faculty development that can benefit throughout one's career.
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will also receive dedicated support for their personal and professional growth. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will receive mentorship, support and opportunities from the OFE to develop their skills, knowledge, and networks necessary for a successful transition to the next phase of their career. Through guidance and opportunities, the OFE will ensure their continued success both within our institution and in their broader professional journey.
This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of faculty at NC State. The postdoc will have the opportunity to engage in:

  • Faculty Development Design/Development: Work collaboratively to design and implement professional development programs and resources for NC State faculty.
  • Program Delivery: Engage with OFE staff and other campus units to implement faculty development programs and initiatives, as well as creating resources that benefit NC State faculty.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Develop and implement assessment and evaluation strategies to measure the effectiveness of selected faculty development and affairs programs and policies.
  • Publication and Dissemination: Translate research findings into actionable insights and relevant resources. They will also collaborate with our team to disseminate this knowledge through publications in academic journals, conferences, and other relevant outlets.
  • Decision-Making Support: Provide valuable insights and recommendations based on research findings to inform decision-making within the Office for Faculty Excellence. Help shape programming and initiatives that enhance the faculty experience.
  • Individual Consultation and Support: Provide one-on-one consultations to faculty on course design, pedagogy, assessment strategies, and teaching challenges.
  • Assist faculty with implementing innovations to address instructional issues.

Other Work/Responsibilities
Participates in other OFE projects and initiatives as assigned.

Requirements and Preferences






Work Schedule Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm additional hours as needed
Department Required Skills
Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in an Education or related field
  • Experience in designing training and educational programs
  • Strong interest and expertise in faculty development, mentorship, and assessment/evaluation
  • Excellent research and data analysis skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

  • The ability to design and implement impactful initiatives that enhance the professional growth of faculty members through workshops and programming in higher education
  • Proven experience in program evaluation by demonstrating the ability to assess and measure the effectiveness of initiatives within an educational setting.
  • Extensive experience in academic program development and coordination, including the effective management of fiscal and instructional resources and the facilitation of collaborative initiatives
  • Active engagement in professional organizations related to faculty development, discipline-based education and/or the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).
